@autismsupsoc That moment when they ask you a question you go pardon : they proceed to repeat question: you answer before they even start to repeat themselves because your brain’s just processed what they said in the first place 🤦♀️
A benign note around the trauma-informed discussions, when there have been physical traumas, there's a higher likelihood of misaligned vision that untreated, can make life a living hell of physical dissociation b/c the proprioceptive system is over-aroused and under-informed
@ian_hickie@Mark_Butler_MP@Emma4Dobell@TCavenett@AustPsych How about removing the Medicare divide between ‘clinical’ and other psychologists in Australia? Opening up and (re)encouraging training of a diversity of psychologists. The narrowing of the field to prioritise clinical psychs over others is a big part of the problem!!
@mrsdall617@jzux Ergh, and ask them to pay to come and educate the therapist? Nup. I'm a therapist and use feedback in every session to try and keep gaining insight into how to be better. Its always my fault if things go bad. I'll never stop learning. These stories are so sad.
When you use body-shaming insults against awful people, you're also hurting good people with those same body types. There's no way to say, "This physical feature is bad and it's ok to make fun of it but only if it's on a bad person."
@razethecage@FreshWaterDeity 2/2 the only solution (if not physically stopping them going) is massive connection.. text yr love, get lots of support, be needy and be together with others with how fckn scary life is...
@razethecage@FreshWaterDeity Its the 'staring into the abyss' for too long... fear of separation triggering a life or death fight for survival.. only there's nothing you can actually fight, so instead bathing in a constant of flow of stress chemicals...1/2
Autistic people are often criticised for “reading too much into things” and “assuming” the worst, but usually what we deduce is highly accurate, thanks to our pattern-spotting and dot-connecting abilities. I think the real issue is we typically unearth truths others want hidden.
Yep, I was one of those who couldn't watch the video. T extra layer here is that these interactions were filmed. When the children looked to their parent, they saw a camera being pointed at them. What does that say?
Those who follow me know my work tries to help us pay attention to childrn's emotions & take them seriously. I've given you all joyous THREADs in last weeks. What if we get edgy & uncomfortable? Let's look at a USA Cmas tradition frm @JimmyKimmelLive.

Given that autism is highly heritable, it’s a huge flaw in the autism diagnosis process that parents are expected to know and confirm if there is anything “different” about their child. If there is, they probably won’t have noticed, as it’s likely their entire family is autistic.
Another sensitive and insightful breakdown of the mechanics of human attachment... this is such important knowledge... grateful for @suzannezeedyk for generously sharing in the public domain... a gift
Well, this is one of the videos making its way through social media this week, bringing Christmas joy. So let's have a brief THREAD on its details. My thanks go to all of you who tagged me to make sure I didn't miss it.
