@toss_tom93212@Mpmocean@aelluswamy@elonmusk@kylaschwaberow Not what I said. I suggested governing the response of the accelerator while in FSD. And perhaps, if you FLOOR it, disengaging. I use the accelerator all the time with FSD. It’s a light pressure. A “nudge” to say, it’s ok, go ahead
It’s not a ridiculous argument. You have to consider FSD. It’s different than any other driving. You are relaxed. Your feet are at rest, not in “ready” position. Something goes wrong, you dont just bend your ankle and press the brake, you react, reach for a pedal quickly out of panic, the car accelerates faster than 90% of the cars on the road and 100% faster than you’ve ever experienced, the screen turns red and yells at you, you think the car is acting on its own.
It’s not the same. Your name leads me to believe you’ve driven a Tesla, and presumably FSD. If true, you know it’s not the same as driving any other car, or any other “cruise control” system.
@ToddObr11806472@WeirdSciChet@aelluswamy@elonmusk@kylaschwaberow I dont want nags or limits, and I didn’t suggest that. But what’s wrong with governing power while FSD/Autopilot is engaged.
It’s time to take the stance that the car knows best and only allow the slightest of human input, or a full disengagement.
@GCElLLC@toss_tom93212@aelluswamy@elonmusk@kylaschwaberow I’m not saying the driver isn’t ultimately at fault, but that doesn’t mean an engineered solution to the hazard shouldn’t be considered. That’s the tough part for Tesla I think, corrective action steps dangerously close to admitting fault. It’s a legal balancing act
@RJTesla@aelluswamy@elonmusk@kylaschwaberow At this point in the progression of the tech, the odds a human hazard identification before the software is <1%, IMO.
Even if this is the case, these cars are too powerful, and thus I strongly support government power while autopilot is engaged.
Their manufacturing lines are built to build legacy autos with massive engines up front.
Elon has said it many times as Tesla grew, manufacturing was key. He’s now because ahead with proper infrastructure while legacy struggles to refresh assembly lines and manufacturing techniques
💯. I agree with you completely. As an FSD test pilot since 2022, I like having the ability to “tap” the accelerator to encourage to car to move when it’s being hesitant. I just this that input should be limited. Anything more that a gentle tap should act as a disengagement. Currently it doesn’t (immediately).
