Dogs picked up for sterilisation deserve dignity, compassion, and humane handling.
We respectfully urge the authorities to ensure that all dog-catching staff are properly trained in animal welfare and humane capture techniques. These voiceless souls should never be subjected to fear, pain, or rough treatment while being taken for sterilisation or vaccination.
If a dog is being picked up for a welfare programme, let it be done with kindness and respect. Every animal deserves to be handled gently and safely.
Sterilisation and vaccination are essential for both animal welfare and community well-being, but the process must remain humane at every step. Let us set an example of compassion and responsible care rather than causing unnecessary suffering.
A truly progressive society is measured by how it treats those who cannot speak for themselves.
Let's work together to ensure that every dog is treated with dignity, kindness, and respect.

Statement from Council Member @ChrisMarteNYC and Voters For Animal Rights President Julie Cappiello:
“This Thursday, Council Member Marte will introduce Ryder’s Law, legislation to transition New York City away from horse-drawn carriages and toward a safer, more humane future.
The death of a carriage horse in Central Park tonight is a heartbreaking reminder that this system no longer works — not for horses, and not for the workers whose livelihoods depend on an industry facing an uncertain future.
Horses are living beings who deserve dignity and compassion. They should not be forced to navigate the noise, traffic, and demands of New York City streets.
New York City can protect animal welfare while supporting the workers who depend on the horse carriage industry. As we push to end horse-drawn carriages, we are committed to ensuring workers have a fair transition, economic security, and access to new opportunities.
We look forward to working with TWU, the City Council, and all stakeholders to develop a workforce program that supports affected workers and their families.
Tonight’s tragedy was heartbreaking — but future tragedies are preventable.
It is time to pass Ryder’s Law.”

Exploiting animals for a photo op is NEVER a good look.
Animals at tourist traps are often abused, imprisoned, & separated from their families 💔 There are so many fun excursions you can take that don't involve animals! Don't be that kind of tourist!
Michelle Moran, 63, of Bebington, Wirral, has been banned from keeping animals for life after throwing her Jack Russell terrier Gypsy into a boating lake at Gautby Road in Birkenhead to drown.
Moran claimed she believed Gypsy had cancer and tumours and could not afford veterinary euthanasia, but none of her alleged conditions were confirmed by any veterinary diagnosis.
Gypsy's body was recovered from the lake by a member of the public on September 29 last year.
When examined, the dog weighed just 3.7 kilograms and scored two out of nine on a body condition score, indicating severe malnourishment. Her mouth and nose were bloodied.
Veterinary evidence confirmed the surrounding concrete wall would have made it almost impossible for a small or weakened dog to escape the water.
Moran pleaded guilty to two offences under the Animal Welfare Act and received a 17-week suspended sentence, a lifetime animal ban, a curfew, and rehabilitation requirements. The RSPCA described Gypsy's death as horrendous and called Moran's actions extremely callous.
THEY ARE BASTARDS!
We just got an email sent to MSE. The spelling was awful, and it was quite tough to understand. Lower down, the writer later explained she was 78 and her disability had stopped her being able to spell. So perhaps it is a stroke, or something similar.
I've tidied it and summarised below, changing some identifying details. In a nutshell, it was this...
"I invested, Martin, with Quotum when you first announced it on TV. What an opportunity for me to buy my own flat. My manager there passed me through to a nice man who asked me for £350 more. He showed me it was growing. I did what he told me to do."
She then goes on to explain how she really wanted her flat and she gave more and more money. And she has nothing left to help with her disability.
I'm honestly in tears typing this. These types of scam ads have now been going on for a decade. I have spent my career trying to help people with their finances. It feels visceral to get this, and to feel that this reputation has been perverted by criminals to steal from someone who is clearly so vulnerable leaves me feeling nauseous.
So many people, both vulnerable and not, lose money and see their lives and wellbeing destroyed. It's now seven years since I sued Facebook. And yet still nothing is being done.
Big tech makes £3bn a year from these scammers. We have a law in place to make them responsible for these ads they're paid to publish, yet it isn't implemented. How many more of these do I have to receive - and far worse, how many more people have to go through this?
This is relentless. It is wrong. Government has to take action! I wrote to the PM just two weeks ago on this very issue. I've not heard back yet.
(We are, of course, going to try and point her in the right direction to get help, but that will be stressful for her too)
The woman who threw a cat in a bin 16 years ago is now living like a 'recluse' after online hate 👀
Mary Bale went viral after she was caught on CCTV dumping an innocent cat into a wheelie bin landing her the nickname 'Cat bin lady' and a fine of £250.
The viral CCTV footage which set the internet on fire back in 2010 as led to an international online witch hunt against the woman for her animal abuse stunt.
The video starts with the woman walking up to the unsuspecting feline. She goes to stroke the cat a few times before the footage takes a shocking turn.
Then, with very surprising dexterity, the woman swiftly picks up the poor animal by the scruff off the neck, flips open the lid of a nearby wheelie bin and dumps the unfortunate feline into the depths of the bin.
After hurling the poor pet into the waste bin the woman walks off nonchalantly as if nothing was amiss.
It was one of the internet's first viral videos has become a recluse after the international attention she received became unbearable.
The tabby cat named Lola was trapped in the bin for a shocking 15 hours after the ordeal. Mary Bale, who was 45 at the time of the viral video, claimed she binned the poor animal as “a joke” and added “it’s only a cat.”
However despite her previously being dismissive of her abhorrent actions the lady, hailing from Coventry, has become a recluse and is widely still known as the “Cat Bin Lady,” the Daily Mail reports. Despite Lola the tabby being made a victim in the viral video, she went on to live a happy long life and passed away around five years ago.
However the fateful day rattled Mary Bale's life forever. After the incident the woman claimed she didn’t understand why the viral video had sparked such anger. She stated: “I really don't see what everyone is getting so excited about. It's just a cat.
“I was walking home from work and saw this cat wander out in front of me. I was playing with it, stroking it and listening to it purr as it stood on a garden wall. It was very friendly.
“I don't know what came over me, but I suddenly thought it would be funny to put it in the wheelie bin, which was right beside me. I did it as a joke because I thought it would be funny. I never thought it would be trapped. I expected it to wriggle out of the bin.”
“To think this video is being seen around the world is unbelievable. I'm a very private person and don't want to upset any members of my family. I don't know what my relatives will think, but to be honest I think everyone's overreacting a bit.
“OK, I shouldn't have done it, but it's just a cat at the end of the day. I don't think I deserve to be hated by people all over the world, it was just a split second of madness.”
One anonymous local has said Bale was never able to escape the hate she got from the video. The local stated: "Mary has never got over her notoriety. She was vilified by people across the world. Most people have long forgotten it but not everyone and she doesn't feel forgiven.
“She resigned from her job in the aftermath of the furore and never re-established a proper career. She leads a very very quiet life now and rarely speaks to anyone. I think she remains deeply embarrassed and thinks that's all she will ever be known for.”

🚨 ALLEGED DOG ABUSER - ST ANNES ON SEA BLACKPOOL. IF YOU KNOW HIM, HAVE A WORD
From another social media post:
Does anyone recognise this specimen of humanity who was on the beach - south of the pier - about 7.45 this evening (Wednesday 27 May)?
My friend and I (with our dogs) noticed him as he was hitting both of his dogs. He then picked one up either by its collar or scruff of the neck and let it hang! We could hear what he was saying to them (loudly) and it wasn’t pleasant.
Out came my camera and I pretended to be videoing the beach but was taking this photo. He sort of walked towards us and as he did so the language he used towards the dogs changed from very unpleasant to more favourable.
As he came closer I said I’d noticed the change in what he was saying to the dogs - well the beast was unleashed and a tirade of foul abusive and threatening language came forth - he was nearly screaming at us.
Other people heard him as we were asked what all that was about. My only concern was for the dogs - 2 Yorkshire terriers (or similar) who seemed to be fastened together by a length of chain - could have been a ‘brace’ for walking 2 dogs on one lead.
Being reported to police this morning.

MAN JAILED AFTER DOG WAS DISCOVERED 'CLOSE TO DEATH' DUE TO SEVERE NEGLECT
A cruel and remorseless coward has been jailed for 12 weeks after a terrier was discovered ‘close to death’ due to severe neglect.
RSPCA inspector Marie Griffith found the dog -called Barney – under half its recommended body weight, with his ribs, spine and pelvic bones visible.
He was also suffering from hypothermia, depression and dehydration.
Ashley Woodruff, 28, of St Johns Road, Yeovil has also been banned from keeping animals for life after he appeared before Yeovil Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (11 March), where he admitted causing unnecessary suffering to his dog.
Mrs Griffith attended his address after a tip-off from a member of the public.
She said: “Woodruff was holding a small brown terrier type dog tightly. Even though a lot of the dog’s body was covered by Woodruff’s arms I could see the dog was in an extremely poor condition
“Barney was totally emaciated with no body fat present at all. His ribs, spine and pelvic bones were very visible, and the sockets behind his eyes were sunken. His coat was dull and he appeared lethargic and depressed.”
Barney was rushed to the vets for urgent treatment and checks. Upon examination, vets discovered he weighed just 4.8kg, less than half the weight of a dog of his age, sex and type should weigh.
Medics also discovered that Barney was hypothermic, and concluded that his lack of body fat had left him unable to stay warm while living outdoors.
He was hospitalised and given intravenous fluids and treated with warming equipment to rehydrate and bring up his body temperature.
Barney also had several rotten teeth, including some that were showing signs of infection.
Barney has since recovered and is enjoying life in his new home.
