The Lowry Tunnel is getting a bath!
Starting Mon. Oct. 3 thru Wed. Oct. 5, I-94 between Hennepin/Lyndale Ave. and I-394 will be closed overnight from 10pm to 5am while crews wash the tunnel. Traffic detoured onto the Hennepin-Lyndale bypass.

@ChrisStanden88 Had to go for a walk this morning for an appointment. The whole trip was terribly unhealthy due to 2 lanes of slow car traffic. Who wants to live like this?
The other podcast I listened to today was this: an interview with @DonaldShoup talking about his book, The High Cost of Free Parking. Really interesting.
One key point on introducing paid parking is to ensure the revenue goes back into the local area. https://t.co/Yyqc1vLgDu
@PhilipThalis First up just do Canberra Sydney, Newcastle, then extend it. That would serve a lot of people already and be a good kick start to the project
@dahontr3@khzny@SpacePootler I think council is responding to residents fear of not being able to park or have old ideas. Many developers would like to build with no parking

What do you (respectfully) say to a city council who has publicly declared a ‘climate emergency’ while still requiring 1:1 parking ratios on urban multifamily projects, with no options for reduction through mode shift incentives?
When your Local Authority makes 20mph speed limits the norm, it helps you to make walking and cycling the norm for local journeys. Then you can help your local High Street thrive just by leaving your car at home.

@walksydney1 These roads are "only" 2 lanes each way of heavy traffic, so the solution has to be drastic like chop down to 1 lane, add a congestion charge, tram etc
