It is still appalling that in 1980 Reagan stood in Philadelphia, Mississippi, where KKK members including law enforcement officers in 1964 murdered Chaney, Goodman, and Schwerner for registering Black people to vote, and said, “I believe in state’s rights.”
I'm continuously puzzled at our testing approach. Rather than "get a test within 24 hours", which is practically challenging, why are we not having everyone rapid test on the plane?
Rapid Test + Customs Form.
@danielsgoldman I’m wondering why Rittenhouse’s mother wasn’t charged with driving her underaged son with his assault rifle to a known dangerous situation in another state. Also, why wasn’t the person who supplied that assault rifle to an underage boy charged?
Just too many things wrong with the Rittenhouse case: from the fact that he had an AR-15, to victims not being called victims, to bad law and worse jury instructions, to an unjust outcome.
This cannot continue. We must fix the system so we have one standard of justice for all.
Correction:
This isn’t about discarding ballots. He’s talking about the fact that he blocked Harris County from sending ballot applications to voters who didn’t specifically ask for them.
The point still stands, IMO: He blocked people from voting, to help a specific candidate.
Ken Paxton is admitting to citizens in his own state that he threw out their ballots to help Trump win.
If I were a mail-in voter in Texas, I would be using this in a lawsuit.
The American left asks why we can't be like Denmark, with universal health care, low child poverty, and high life satisfaction. The American right asks why we can't have a murderously repressive regime like Putin's Russia, or now Myanmar. OK.
CNN had an ad promoting South Dakota tourism, featuring Kristi Noem, and proclaiming the state's commitment to safety and health. The reckless governor, responsible for superspreading and mayhem in her own state. What hypocrisy.
This is so powerful. Transparency is popular among conservatives. So Mitch McConnell and his allies are going to use every despicable tactic they can to block it.
A vote against the For The People Act is a vote against the rights of Black and Brown voters. Period.
If made into law, it would expand:
👉Early voting
👉Automatic voter registration
👉Vote by mail
And finally make Election Day a federal holiday.
RT if you want it passed.
To all the Asian American and Pacific Islander journalists logging on/showing up to work this morning, feeling shook, horrified, exhausted and invisible, I see you and you’re not alone. 1/
This was entirely predictable. The whole game plan, the same used in the first two years of Clinton and Obama in both terms was to unite in total opposition to everything, no matter the value or urgency. Delegitimize it all. Not a party, a cult.
It would be easy to say that Greg Abbott is the worst elected official in America. But with Ron DeSantis, Kristi Noem, Dan Patrick, Ken Paxton, Ron Johnson, Rand Paul, Taylor Green, Boebert, Cawthorn, Graham, Cruz, Hawley, and so many more....
