(2/2) I’m excited to continue collaborating with our partners @LEGOfoundation on this critical issue and wrote about its importance with their CEO, Sidsel Marie Kristensen:

(1/2) Last week the world celebrated the first-ever UN #InternationalDayOfPlay. Now that celebrations have wound down, it is as important as ever for us all to make play a priority for children, so they can grow and develop as they are meant to, and be ready to face the world.
Together with @WorldVisionCan CEO, @MJMessenger, we are calling on PM @JustinTrudeau: Canada must fulfill its pledge to #InvestInAid for vulnerable children globally. Investing in children means investing in peace, prosperity, and equality.

Every day, children are affected by conflict, climate-related emergencies, and the effects of displacement. On #WorldMentalHealthDay, @RightToPlayIntl published a policy brief on the benefits of play-based psychosocial support for children. Read it at the link below.
For too many children, crisis is the new normal. Stressors can inhibit brain development and their ability to learn. Play is one of the most effective ways to support children’s psychosocial wellbeing.

The Gov of Canada has been an invaluable leader in supporting education worldwide. Now is a critical time to renew that commitment to children.
Join us in encouraging the Government of Canada to maintain their support and leadership in global education: https://t.co/JLtWROnIl6
222 million children are out of school and their hopes for the future are in jeopardy.
Unlocking the power and potential of these children starts with investing in education. It’s the greatest tool we have for realizing a more peaceful and gender-equal world.
#EducationDay
A quality play-based #education inspires a child to hope for a better world and equips them with the skills and knowledge they need to create it.
Don’t let children fall into the post-pandemic learning gap, stand with them as they claim their right to an education.

It was lovely to meet @GTwagirayezu, Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education, who said that he wished Right To Play could be in every school in Rwanda - an aspiration we share!
My thanks to @MaryKhozi and the @Righttoplayrw team.
I have just returned from a wonderful trip to Rwanda. It was great to visit the schools and programs that partner with Right To Play. I was so pleased to meet children, teachers and coaches who exemplify the strong impact of play-based learning!
We at Right To Play always value the opportunity to be able to meet with youth leaders and Minister @HarjitSajjan, to highlight the work we do together, as we continue to prioritize our support for global education, particularly for girls, refugees and displaced youth.
As co-chairs of CIEPWG, Right To Play was fortunate to host an event at the #TransformingEducationSummit alongside Min. @HarjitSajjan to celebrate past successes, but most importantly, to listen to youth leaders and renew a call for more resources to support global education.

This week at the UN we are renewing our commitment to providing quality, play-based education to millions of vulnerable children.
Education must be a top priority for those in power if we want to provide the next generation with hope for their future.
This past weekend, Right To Play participated in the #TransformingEducationSummit in NYC. The Summit brought youth leaders together with government officials and implementing agencies to elevate global education to the top of the political agenda.

Our colleague, Eric Opoku, presented today at #BAICE2022 on the importance of effectively measuring performance to create systemic improvements in education.
We are working with teachers to improve systems that will reward students’ competency development for the 21st century.
After another challenging, but encouraging year, I am thrilled to share @RightToPlayIntl’s 2021 Annual Report.

Every child has a right to play, learn and grow within a community that will help them overcome adversity.
Yesterday, I attended the 7th annual #RTPPHeroesGala which empowers children with programs that give them a chance at success through the #powerofplay.
I want to thank our community of supporters who helped us raise over $3M at our gala last night in #Toronto. That funding will help children to stay in school, resist exploitation, overcome prejudice, prevent disease, and heal from the trauma of war and displacement. Thank you!
After a two-year hiatus, the #RTPPHeroesGala returned last night and raised an incredible $3.1 million dollars in support of programs that protect, educate, and empower children in 15 countries around the world, including Indigenous communities here in Canada!
These brave young people in #Lebanon are using their voices to change the way people see them and to advocate for their rights.

Play has the power to help children process and understand their emotions. For refugees, this can mean dealing with grief, and recovering from trauma.
