Thanks to our tweet about Karl Stefanovic yesterday, witches, our information is Channel Nine now appear to have demanded he take down his podcast interview yesterday with UK fascist arsehole Tommy Robinson.

Yet despite that, the episode is still available to view, courtesy of one of (wait for it) Pauline Hanson, who says she’s a friend of Karl’s but who re-posted the interview on her own socials after he took it down (some friend, hey?):

That’s how scared Nine are of our potential witchy campaign; they KNOW Stefanovic is turning into (or is at least now willing to display) his hateful views to all, but don’t want their breakfast show advertisers targeted.

Well, they should have fucking thought of that earlier.

And Nine should be well aware: them taking Karl’s podcast down won’t stop us. In fact, it makes us even angrier they seem to think we’re so easily fooled and silenced.

The truth is we’re now even MORE determined to run such a campaign on Stefanovic (tentatively titled #KancelKarl), and we badly need your help if you want us to do so.

We need you, witches.

First, we need you to spread the news far and wide about this new boycott, so as many people as possible decide to take part. Because eagerly showcasing a person like Robinson (yep, we know that’s a false name) has NO PLACE in Australia, and Nine should be clearly aware of this. (If anyone can publish Robinson’s transgressions in our thread we’d appreciate it, since we don’t have time to do so this morning. But trust us when we say: he is HORRIFIC.)

But secondly, we badly need financial support to pay our workers for this campaign. There’ll be a lot of new advertisers to put in our databases, so a LOT of work to do to get all this up and running. Particularly if we need to do it fast. So if you want Karl gone from Nine, we truly need your help. If you don’t currently fund us or could do so now to a slightly higher degree (even if just for a few months), please consider.

It matters that we keep these fascists and far-right nutbags out of Australian broadcasting or anyone working here in the media, so our witchy power matters now more than ever. Hanson wants Robinson showcased, because he repeats and expands her talking points to her base. And that’s another reason this MUST BE STOPPED.

Finally, if anyone can re-record the Robinson interview in Hanson’s link above, please do so and send it to us at [email protected]. This is because we expect Nine and or Stefanovic to lean hard on Hanson today to take it down, and that could happen very soon. So we want to keep a recording of the interview. In addition, we haven’t even had time to listen to it so if anyone can suffer through it and send us any choice quotes showing who Robinson is to the same email address, please do so.

I was just reminded of this when we were talking about a comedian this weekend

I was in St Kilda with a young female relative who was 14 at the time (around 2010). She's a pretty girl, but she was then very obviously a young 14'ish. We were waiting for ice-cream and comedian was clearly checking her out, in an obvious and creepy way

She was made so uncomfortable by his lip-licking and leering that she told me and came to stand behind me. I fixed said comedian with a targeted death stare and only after I then started deliberately moving towards him, did he stop his obvious 14-year-old-girl lechery

So, let's recap, shall we?

This week the @PressClubAust managed to:

* cancel at the last minute, the questions and subsequent presence of renowned journalist Margo Kingston, who’d travelled over 2 days to Canberra to ask her question of Pauline Hanson – and yes, they were questions initially requested and organised by the Press Club itself 9 days ago.

* cancel the press gallery membership of long-term journalist, Greg Jericho, allegedly because he works for the @TheAusInstitute. Although Greg has been employed by the Aust Institute for 4 years, his membership cancellation only came yesterday after he publicly called out the Canberra press gallery - which is of course a highly fortuitous coincidence and not at all connected to his criticism.

* somehow allowed a person or persons unknown to enter the Press Club premises and put up a 3 metre wide electronic banner, without anybody in the Press Club noticing them doing it. How several people enter a private club carrying something that large, then proceed to wire it up on an open stage and nobody at the premises noticed in any way, is yet another display of the NPC’s staggering incompetence.

* release an unnecessarily detailed, high-school level statement about said banner incident, a statement that reeks of defensiveness and hysteria, while also prejudicially naming an alleged culprit and arguably sinking to the bottom of the barrel in terms of the journalistic standards it supposedly represents. Read it below and remind yourself that people who work with words for a living wrote that.

* allowed the speaker, Pauline Hanson, to defame one of their own - a journalist from the Guardian who dared to ask a hard-hitting question - by calling her "trash". This was only weeks after calling the same journalist a "nasty bitch". Mirroring, Trump’s “Quiet piggy” incident, the journalist's alleged colleagues all sat mute, as did the moderator, Tom Connell from Sky News during the abuse. No rebuke, no blow-back, no support for their fellow journalist, standing alone under Hanson's hissing vitriol. Just pusillanimous silence.

The National Press Club outdid their already dubious reputation this week, spraying themselves in a spectacular shower of self-inflicted shit – wall to wall, dripping effluent.

Australians currently suffer some of the most timid, captured political journalism in the western world, and if the actions of the #NPC this week are the metric, then we can all see why.

What a national and international embarrassment of an organisation meant to serve as a vital democratic institution and a cultural conscience – and one that has offered us neither.
