If any friends in Melbourne wanted to see Hannah Gadbsy this afternoon at 4 (front row seats!) - We can't make it (had to pick up a pet from the vet) and so are trying to get rid of our tickets: https://t.co/rgojg250dO
@chendo@nickforge Fwiw these are both the same model ordered at the same time. Will see if I can find a hardware revision or anything to help narrow it down
@chendo@nickforge And can confirm: it's not fixed by switching ports, adapters etc - always that screen. So possible certain screens aren't affected by it? Will leave unplugged for a little to reset and revisit :)
@chendo@nickforge Finally managed to get it whilst using the machine, this is the output: https://t.co/uyKf7PwFGi (currently have the right display flickering, left is absolutely fine).
@yaakov_h My understanding is high positivity means the batching no longer worked as well. Low percentage means majority of batches will be negative avoiding need for individual testing. High percentage means a single positive in a batch means whole batch must then revert to individual
@freshtonic @sevenseacat Same situation here, except the 14" because I missed the 30 minute period after the keynote where 16" weren't in december - Replaced a 2013 MBP (with damaged screen) that had been chugging along :D
@sevenseacat @freshtonic Got one a few weeks ago (opted for the 14” to get it faster / more portability) w/ 64gb of ram. One of the nicest laptops I’ve used - super solid, battery life is fantastic
Lastly, only downside so far has been the lack of a publicly routable IP - CGNAT is a thing, but the main thing we care about being available elsewhere (our camera system) is using a relay, so it worked flawlessly. And improved upload means it works much better than it did before
So it's almost 2 months on with starlink, and I thought I'd do a proper update since we have it properly mounted now:
* Average speed (Mbps) for us is 217 down, 14.7 up (appx. 3 speed tests an hour, averaged over a week)
* Our fasted down speed tracked was 370, fastest up was 52
We have concrete tiles, and wanted it high up on our roof (surrounded by some taller trees), and so our neighbour (who does metalwork) fabricated a custom eave mount, similar to ones available in the US:
@lennybackwards Fingers crossed for you you’ll get it soon. Ours wasn’t quite that bad thankfully - but it’s a huge improvement for an internet heavy house
