@RetirementTales So sad that you’re going 💔. You’ve brought so much joy to so many & been such a positive influence on teacher’s mental health with your humour, positivity & connection. Thank you for all of the smiles, laughs & positiveness, you’ve both been wonderful to follow. All the best ❤️
@rosBIGWRITING Oracy is the basis of everything we do, with over 300 3-7 yr olds in our school, it underpins everything. We focus so much on not just learning to talk, but learning how to talk with all our children every day. Would love to win a digital copy of this! @AmyPaine35
10 reflections on the education profession, from 2 old timers:
1. Our education system is currently in a very fragile state, from the early years to higher education. The next Government will need to grasp the scale of the problems very quickly. This couldn't be more important.
@LEADTSHub@Mount_Street Thank you so much for having us (and for the endless supply of cups of tea!). We got so much done and it was such a fantastic space to be able to work together in to think and plan strategically. Thanks to you all for such a warm welcome.
📣 **COGNITIVE ENGAGEMENT** For new knowledge to be encoded in long-term memory, we must drive thinking and ensure that students are cognitively engaged throughout the lesson. This new poster summarises how you can push ALL students to “think hard”.

Today sees the release of ‘Let There Be Light’ - a documentary exploring the pattern of harmful behaviours experienced under the leadership of Mike Pilavachi, a prominent figure in the UK Church. Our hope is for this film to be something of a care-package for the hurting, at the same time asking how we might become a healthier Church in the future. We know it won’t serve everyone, but we pray it will help some.
We tell our story to shine light and help validate other’s experiences. It would have been much easier to say nothing - but a culture of silence up until now has been a significant force. Other voices speaking into this documentary are Dr Diane Langberg (recognised for her 50 years of clinical work with trauma victims), Dr Chi-Chi Obuaya (a respected London Harley Street consultant psychiatrist) and Dr Amy Orr-Ewing (a regarded UK theologian with a passion to advocate for survivors of abuse.) The film also points to some key organisations who provide support in this area and also safeguarding resources for churches.
While speaking on a painful subject it’s also important to acknowledge all of the pastors out there faithfully loving those that God has entrusted to them.
This is a story Beth and I chose to tell. Our prayer is for the healing of yesterday’s wounds and a brighter, safer Church tomorrow.
Let there be Light.

A+ Dad!
Earlier this week I wrote about the importance of “agency” - or allowing children to make choices for themselves.
Today, along comes this fantastic example.
What I love about this dad is that he’s laying the groundwork for this very thing - even before his daughter is expressing strong preferences of her own.
He’s selected two potential outfits and talks our hero through each option - conveying the message that she is capable of making her own decisions, and that he will honor them.
But that’s not all. Listen to the way he describes each. To all the extra vocabulary he exposes her to. And to the warm and happy tone he uses as she looks on adoringly.
The whole episode might have taken 30 seconds longer than if he had simply picked an outfit and dressed her… but look at all that was gained by his attentive and interactive approach.
Simply fantastic. How might you follow this dad’s lead today?
