This is why it is so hard for someone’s actions to change how we see them. Our brain rejects what we don’t believe to be true. You have to start with your thoughts before change can happen in your marriage.

Likewise, if you think “my husband is caring and hardworking” then when he does something selfish you see it as an out of character fluke, and continue to think well of him.

For example, if you think “my husband is selfish and lazy” then when he does something unselfish you will interpret it as an out of character fluke, and focus on the things that confirm what you believe about him.
