At #SAMS2026, our Executive Director @bchinowawa spoke about the case of Zimbabwe Independent Editor @Faye_Zaba, who was arrested in July 2025 over a satirical Muckraker column & charged with contravening section 33 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act for allegedly undermining the authority of or insulting the President. Zaba spent some days in custody & the criminal proceedings then continued for almost one year until the High Court quashed the charges in June 2026 & removed her & Alpha Media Holdings from remand.
@bchinowawa said "That is a useful case for discussing the distinction between the final legal outcome and the lived impact of prosecution. The High Court outcome protected press freedom. But for almost a year she faced the legal expense and reputational burden of criminal proceedings over political satire. Satire is supposed to discomfort power and a democracy should be very cautious about converting that discomfort into a criminal case."

@MohamedMwa77311 I think for a new manager who got new expensive transfers, fans are not wrong to demand more, but also we should be grateful that whilst Iraola is building something from a devastating previous season, how about we appreciate that we haven't lost the games so far instead?🤷♂️
