"With the unsustainable depletion of manta and devil rays in the Indian Ocean, the Chagos Archipelago no-take MPA is a refuge that supports their survival, so ensuring their ongoing protection in the region is essential" @JoannaL_Harris@MantaTrust@PlymUni#ScientistSpotlight
@lucaborger@SwanseaUni@MarineSwansea Amazing way to celebrate the research of Prof Andrew Rowley, appointed here in 1976, with talks from his collaborators, previous PhD students & peers (& lots of great photos!)

It's hawksbill turtle day!
Our work in the South-west Indian Ocean focusses on understanding the ecology of this critically endangered species. From migrations to monitoring, here's some of our recent papers:
🚨NEW PAPER🚨
Recently @EstebanNicole and @hollystokes94 contributed to this paper reporting the finding of an ancient turtle fossil in Italy from 90 million years ago! 🐢🔎https://t.co/8D4MYsesA8

Tomorrow (22nd May) we’ll be at the PGR Showcase hosted by @PGRSwansea with a stall between 12 and 1pm during lunch. Come say hi, find out more about what we do, and collect a sticker!
Well done to 6 MRes students for presenting at todays conference on topics as diverse as genetic profiling of pine martens to livestock grazing effect on bee pollination in salt marshes
Interesting talk by MRes Bioscience student Ben Lam at our PGR conference about how livestock grazing pressures affect bee pollination in salt marshes in SW Wales
Beach Seine netting surveys efficiency certainly increased in howling winds and very cold conditions this morning with super team work by this group of hardy marine biologists @MarineSwansea studying fish in sheltered saltmarsh in Carmarthen Bay
We might have high wind & waves, but field surveys still went ahead earlier today to collect data to study fish assemblages in Carmarthen Bay - followed by an extended data entry session to warm up!
