Last year, together with the amazing @Swendude, I started a coding bootcamp. I still remember giving my first lesson to the first class. I was really nervous, but I loved it immediately. We ran two classes, and while teaching the second one the students from the first class were finding junior developer jobs. That was an incredible feeling!
But all good things come to an end. After the second class, I made the decision not to stay on for a third class. Many aspects were amazing, but others were less so. Teaching in this 10-week bootcamp way often felt like running a marathon in a sprinting tempo. So it was time for a change and I left the ship.
Huge thanks to Swen for the amazing journey. I am super stoked to see Mind Mingle continue, as it truly is something special! 🔥
The rest of this year will be a sabbatical; not taking on new freelance work! I also have a project brewing that will combine all the things I loved about teaching, but more on that later. For now I mostly want to create and learn a lot of different things, like making music.
Currently I'm learning to play the piano better, learning Ableton and music theory. It has been so cool to see the patterns in music, like the Circle of 5ths. I'm working through a jazz music theory book that is breaking my head every page, but I'm slowly making progress!
For now I produced this little music snippet and animation to capture how I feel. I made the animation in Photoshop and After Effects by combining photos I shot. The buildings on the side are from Tirana in Albania. I loved the architecture, as they felt really dreamy. The talking sample is from a talk of Rob Burbea, a meditation teacher.
Good things ahead! Let's nourish with good sleep, food, people, movement and making things! Joeee!
