AT 02:14 A F*CKING VM YOU'LL NEVER SEE BOOTS UP. AT 07:02 YOU WAKE UP TO 3 YESES WAITING. NOTHING LEFT YOUR INBOX WITHOUT YOU.
Claude Duet. research preview, 21.10.2026. Opus 5.5. its own VM with a browser, parked on Anthropic infrastructure, running the shift your laptop and phone slept through.
the tty on the dash reads like a server you don't rent:
→ 02:14 vm boot, browser up
→ gmail 3 threads drafted, send → ask you
→ 05:00 recheck connected accounts, no new work
→ 07:02 push 4 items that need your yes
→ trade BLOCKED, transfer BLOCKED, card number BLOCKED, password never visible
while this ran, your bank app had no agent in it. your Stripe dashboard had no agent in it. the agent was in a cloud VM, in a browser Anthropic serves, reading inbound and drafting. your real credentials never left the vault.
my take: the tty and the counters on this dash are a sim. the architecture is from the launch article. research preview, US Pro and Max via waitlist. Anthropic admits urgency and personal errands are still weak. the shift pattern is the real headline.
most agent demos pretend to be live. this one pretends to be a coworker who texted you at 7am.
I gave my Grok Bot Jane Street quant agent $38 and told it to make 200x by tomorrow.
It made 230x.
$38 -> $8,740 in 24 hours.

But most of the build isn't about making it trade. It's about stopping it.
It looked at 2,412 setups.
It killed 2,094 of them.
It took 318.
> no trade if the edge is smaller than the fees
> no trade if it can't name the exit before the entry
> no trade if the last 3 lost, it sits out 20 minutes and rereads the tape
> no single ticket bigger than the risk line, no matter how good it looks
297 green. 21 red. The worst one cost $274 at hour 9, and it was the only trade all day it took under 60 seconds to decide.
It noticed that too. By hour 10 it had added a rule: think longer when it feels obvious.
I see the diff. I do not write it.
Jane Street hires people who say no for a living. Mine learned it in a day for $38.
The whole build is in the post below ↓
MiniMax M3.1 Flash is the Flash-tier model I've been hunting for to run under Opus 5.5 without blowing the agent bill
the three spots I'm wiring it into this week:
> executor on my 30-step scraping loop
76.2 on BankerToolBench, holds the thread across files
> first pass on PRs before I pay Opus to review
73.7 on DeepSWE, right next to the frontier
> overnight worker in my research vault, chews through 40 pages while I sleep
62.2 on Automation-Bench, ahead of everyone in the chart
at $0.15 / $0.60 per 1M and 170+ tokens a second, a weekend-long agent run still fits in a lunch tab
turns out Space Bunny - the stealth model that's been eating leaderboards - was M3.1 Flash the whole time
