@CallieAntonCTEE We can educate ourselves on our students culture. We can incorporate their culture into our classroom or lesson plans. We need to make our students feel welcome in the classroom to be their true self. We can read books to our students about different cultures.
@tylerlitcircle I do not think it will be difficult to be adapting and flexible as a teacher. If we see things are not working well in our classroom, we can change them to help our students. I can evaluate my teaching by the way my class responds to my teaching methods. I can have an open mind.
“Many schools are moving entirely online systems for communicating with families. Are we sure all families have consistent access to these standards” (p.174). Based on who standards do these decisions to move online were made for?#auctee3100book21 https://t.co/VxjkqNbHzV
@sydneybee_3 We can help children with autism in the classroom in many different ways. We can make them feel comfortable and safe in our classroom. We can be soft spoken when we talk to them. Also, we can have ear defenders in the classroom. We can have fidgets or other calm down tools.
@tylerlitcircle I was not considered gifted at my school. It made me feel horrible and dumb. I remember thinking I was not good enough. It made me not want to work as hard, and it made me become less motivated when it came to my school work. I thought I would never be as smart as my classmates.
“Students attending high-poverty schools also have less access to school nurses than their peers at wealthier schools. High-poverty schools are more likely than wealthy schools not to have a nurse on staff,”(p.108) Why is this the case? #auctee3100book21 https://t.co/wefdqO8LDD
@nyberg_bailey I think that as future educators we can learn how to assess them to determine their knowledge on certain topics. We can learn what they enjoy and incorporate that into what they need help with. We can work with our student’s families and set aside time to focus on their needs.
@randiiclaire_AU I think that dress codes are more important than student learning because they think it really distracts the students. Some schools think that dress code promotes a serious atmosphere which promotes good behavior and academics.
“Parents from families experiencing poverty do not visit their children’s schools for family involvement opportunities at the same rate as wealthier parents” (p.58). #auctee3100book21 Why is this the case? https://t.co/RkrNuBFzo9
@hannahp_au We can motivate students in many different ways. We can make our class material about things that they enjoy. Also, we can give them positive words on encouragement. I think people are motivated more when people are encouraging in everyday life.
@CallieAntonCTEE Everyday I would put up a different question on the board in order to get them to start thinking. I would get them to answer it in their journals. Then, as we get to know each other more over the course of the year I would ask them to discuss with peers to grow their confidence.
“Women are 35% more likely than men to be living in poverty. This is one reason about one-third of female-headed households are in poverty” (p.48). Why are women more likely than man to be living in poverty? #auctee3100book21 https://t.co/k4o3Jjilfv
