There are a lot of wheelchair users who are commenting saying that their experience flying is similar to musicians - that really sucks to hear, guys! The system is pretty brutal.
Like, it may have once been true that the general public didn't care much about Giant Steps, but the past decade of relentless meme-ification and internet jazz pop culture has made it something much more relatable.
@its_adamneely Though most of it is behind a paywall, it does sound like they’ve captured important dimensions of the “Adam Neely” effect. Glad they opened with demographics. Guessing/hoping that they’ve talked about gender disparities in electronic music. If so, useful for my research.
@its_adamneely Was *just* mentioning it on Patreon in response to a comment on your explainer about enharmonic spelling. Somehow, it feels like the compromises of 12TET aren’t the “necessary evil” they once were, for certain forms of musicking. Yet the awkward tuning system keeps on going on.
@ethanhein Ashish Dha, my singing teacher, would probably have useful resources. Not only is he developing a whole approach to teaching Hindustani singing, his background at CalArts also connects with electronic music and tuning theory so it could be a nice match.
Bravo to @Hainbach101 for his new iOS creation with @bram_bos. It’s inspiring to see apps surpassing software and even hardware. Looking forward to creatives combining them all. Great work man.
@swindeorin i use these words because I’m trying to play the music, not listen to it.
attention to breath, pulse, phrasing and meter is necessary. listening with the intent to make music requires engagement
