Meet Ernesto’s Sanctuary’s Head of Night Security.

Her story started long before the night shift.

Rescued very young after the devastating forest fires in Latakia, she found safety at Ernesto’s Sanctuary. Because there are concerns she may not be able to successfully
hunt on her own, Ernesto’s remains her home.

Her compensation package? A full belly, a safe place to sleep, and all the care she needs. And when she’s off duty,
you can usually find her snuggled up with her Mr Hawky
friend. ❤

We received this cat from the Free clinic today.
She was a house cat and it seems she escaped home and got hit outside (possibly a road traffic accident). She managed to get back to her house like this.
Her owner surrendered her to the sanctuary. Dr Mohammed enucleated her ruined eye and we are hopeful of a good outcome for her. She is now painfree and recuperating in our recovery unit. Please wish her well and keep her in your thoughts.

Now that we’ve cleared up the whole “Ernesto’s is just for cats” situation, I thought I should properly introduce myself.

I enjoy long walks around the sanctuary, yummy snacks, being appropriately admired, and making sure the cats don’t get ALL the attention.

Luckily, I’m surrounded by quite the crew. More than 2,800 animals are cared for at Ernesto’s Sanctuary, and we really are one BIG family thanks to you.

$50 can provide a day of treatment for me and my donkey mates, Biebers the horse, and four kitty cats.

Let me introduce my furry , I'm Budy, originally from Latakia, my family decided to entrust me to Ernesto’s sanctuary because I had problems and they could no longer afford the travel costs from Latakia to Idlib to treat me, yes because the only clinic that managed to help me me was Ernesto's, so for my own good they left me here,they said it's a sanctuary full of loving people, cuddles and good food.

But I'm worried, I took a look at their fundraising that they use to buy the tasty food that was promised to me, and I heard that they haven't reached their goal yet this month, it's not like you can help them?

Maybe after I can change my grumpy expression.. right now I’m worry .

Here our new area for the care and observation of cats inside the sanctuary.
The cages are ready, everything is clean and functional.
This will certainly have a huge impact on the health of our adorable cats who are sick or in need of quarantine.

We have an update for you on the dog from Qah.
Today was a bandage change day and Dr Mohammed is very pleased with his progress and forecasts that he could be healed well in about a months time.
Today after his vets visit he took a little walk under the trees.

But we also have some sad news too. We were unable to save the life of the stork. He had suffered too much trauma and shock. He passed yesterday despite every effort of the vets team.💔

Part 3 of 'Meet our team'.

Today we introduce Miss Nour (Hanaa) at Winsons Farm.

We received a call yesterday from Qah a town 50 km north of Idlib city.

This dog was found in a ruined building with an old gunshot injury and a severe open wound to his leg. Sadly, because the injury has been left untreated for some time, the wound has become badly infected and was filled with maggots.
He is now at Ernestos and https://t.co/b1tymnhLPW immediately started work on him.
They debrided and cleaned the wound and started medication and treatment to fight the infection and encourage his body to heal.
For now, he is safe and we are giving him every opportunity to recover while keeping a very close eye on his condition.
If his wound doesn't answer to treatment we will need to consider amputation.
He has a birth defect of his mouth which makes him look very scarey ....but watch his tail. It wags all the time.
For now he is safe, receiving the care he needs, and surrounded by people who are fighting for him.
We welcome donations towards his care and also towards dried food which we still need so desperately.

Today, we rescued this stork after a family in Maarat Masrin, around 10 km north of Idlib, contacted us for help.
He had been shot by hunters.

Shotgun pellets are still lodged in his body, and his wing is completely shattered. The wound is filled with maggots, gangrene has set in, and the damage was so severe that there was no way to save his wing. We had to amputate it.

Right now, his condition is critical. We are doing everything we can for him, but there is a very real chance that he will not survive.
And he is not the only one who needs us.

This month, Ernesto’s Sanctuary is desperately short of donations. We are running low on dried food, medicines, medical supplies, and the basic necessities we need every single day.

Our team works incredibly hard, often under heartbreaking circumstances, and no animal in need is ever turned away.
But we cannot keep doing this alone for long.
