A good way to tell if someone is full of shit is if they say something is "poorly written" without providing any in-text examples that support that assessment
I think itβs fair to say at this point that the writers didnβt really have any solid plans about where the story should go after the Hydaelyn/Zodiark conflict ended and are just throwing things at the wall to see what will stick and deciding where the story will go from there
Life stops being painful when you stop seeing your body as yourself and start viewing it as just an instrument to interact with the real world. You also start to be just an observer, rather than an active participant, that's pretty awesome.
@NekkoBlue I'm sorry but when i see Cloud fucking Strife on the poster, forgive me for thinking that whatever story this raid series is gonna have probably wont have any meaningful main stays in XIV's lore and worldbuilding. The plausible deniability is non-existent
I dont really understand this criticism, moving to a quest maker already doesn't have a fail state. You are losing nothing from this feature being added
I certainly wouldn't go that far but it's maddening to me that for the next two and a half years we will have no content aside from MSQ that meaningfully expands on XIV itself. Yes we've had collabs and crossovers before, we've never had it be the primary content of an expansion
Never when doing Eden did i ever go: "Jeez i sure need to play FF8 to get the fullest enjoyment out of this!" because Eden is a self contained story that fits within XIV's existing lore.
The Nier Raid story however was shit from a butt even with out of game context
People saying "but most ff14 raids reference other games!" are being intentionally obtuse.
There is a clear difference between XIV lore integrated references and non-canon collabs that purely exist for advertising that has no chance of being followed up on in the MSQ
