@SamMonsonNFL Yea, this is going to swing a lot of people towards the NCAA's side. The big losers will be the players from this, as this is the kind of ammo that will get the stalled legislation in congress pushed through that hurts the players.
This is why the Federal Government now has to get involved in college sports. Not because of money, or eligibility, or transfers. No, it's because apparently a rule so black and white as don't bet on games your team plays in is no longer enforceable.
It's a joke.
NEWS: A judge in district court in Lubbock County, Texas, has granted the injunction requested by Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby. He’s set to be eligible for the 2026 season.
Same deal with rookie free agents. Right now the second the draft ends it's a mad scramble to sign the best undrafted guys before anyone else can. A real system to govern that should be interesting. Less land grab, more actual process.
Free Agent Frenzy should be cool, especially in larger leagues. It adds a new dynamic to something that's basically played the same way for 15 years. I think the interesting part is how leagues actually run it. #Madden27
So are we talking 5-minute advances? Everybody works their offers, you advance 5 minutes, repeat, and try to knock the whole thing out in an hour with the league?
Which means it stops being a tradeoff and just becomes free cap space. Front-load your roster, push the penalty to year 7, and nobody's playing year 7 anyway. Which means it could break the mechanic. I'll be curious to see what if any guardrails are in there (Commish controls).
Void years are coming to franchise mode and I'm fascinated to see how it plays out across 32-man leagues. Makes total sense to add them since the NFL runs on them. But the NFL and Madden don't work the same way, and that's where it gets weird. #Madden27
Void years work in real life because the league never ends. The dead money always comes due eventually. That's the whole point.
In Madden, most leagues run 3-7/8 seasons. So you can structure a deal where that check never actually comes due.

@SamMonsonNFL The whole premise is dated. We'd know if a top prospect had been in an accident, or had bong pictures on the internet, within minutes. I would love to know if anyone has ever actually not drafted a player they couldn't reach in the last 20 years? Smart people doing dumb things.
@maharkn14@AlbertBreer You don’t think those recruits want to watch the draft and think about them being there soon versus watching a scrimmage? Again, nothing here feels so big brain that all the other teams who have had sustained success for years aren’t doing it as Breer is presenting it as.
Most people have spent the last few months lamenting this draft's lack of blue-chip star power.
Hard to do that AND criticize the Bengals for using their 1st to acquire one of the best defensive players of the last 5 years.
