Type x @Titans — a fun lil series of wallpapers for the crew in Tennessee. Always fun to push the style guide's limits and design with type. #WallpaperWednesday
@cristoforoUK I remember Alexi Lalas one time asking the question why you would invite pressure into your own box. He’d agree. I feel like every time we play Mexico they press our back line like crazy and rip shots left and right.
One of my biggest problems with USL is that a lot of their “youth movement” is just giving players a token call up to the squad for a game or two in their senior year of high school. There’s no actual effort to develop them into productive players for that first team.
Now maybe some of them simply aren’t good enough to play earlier and they really can’t even sit on the bench anywhere near on merit until they’re 18, but I think that’s a little bogus to begin with.
Also, if it’s true then it points to big issues with USL’s player developmental model that the young players are a prop to give good PR to the club and not actual players with any sort of chance to make it at the club.
When Main Street culture started to fade, we lost so much of our societal fabric

@cristoforoUK Former team a kid of mine played on kicked long to the other GK at least 10 times per game. The CBs pass it back and forth and then after 3-4 passes it’s a long ball to the other GK. I would go hide I was so ashamed 😂
@cristoforoUK Agreed. Also, the way these guys are playing now just go to any track meet and get the fastest sprinter. You don’t need skills for long ball kick and run which is what it has become most places.
@cristoforoUK Unfortunately, it’s true for all youth sports now. Which is why Congress is getting involved. Although I’m not sure that’s going to make things any better 😂
@cristoforoUK Biggest issue imo is clubs aren’t really interested in development. They want to sign guys that are already developed & claim them for résumé. Case in point another Lex signing today. Dev takes hard work & dedication. Can’t do that with a revolving 🚪of coaches/players.
@cristoforoUK This is awesome. I keep hearing the whole thing about how finding talent in small towns and neighborhoods is hard and that those kids don’t have the money to play club. They are playing high school though. Was reading about a player in EPL that played FL HS.
I can’t stop thinking about this post. If you do one thing today, I encourage you to give it a thoughtful, thorough read…
And then commit to never living your life this way. Life has wasted success on the people described in this post.
It really is completely pathetic. They say that comparison is the thief of joy - look no further than this post for validation it is indeed true.
On their deathbed they will realize they have lived their life completely wrong. Don’t let it be you.
@ClayTravis Men’s soccer too. Failed European Academy 23-year old prospects come over to be college freshmen in DI soccer. Credit to Washington and SLU who do things right and develop regional.

@cristoforoUK Most 09s were academy practice players which meant they went at 4pm and skipped 09 practice leaving the 6 or so 09s that weren’t academy practice players to train with 6 kids. Oftentimes that training would be canceled.
@cristoforoUK Only four 09 at Green practice tonight. Got sent to 2010. Seasons are over for all Green teams. No friendlies or anything set up. Basically nothing for 3 weeks in May, which is prime club season. Black teams prepping for state cup. Green teams stopped showing up at U17/U19.
