Iโve been pretty much off social media for the last month.
Every now and then Iโd log in just to see whatโs going onโฆ and itโs been fascinating to watch.
People documenting every meal, workout, date, sunset, cup of coffee, outfit. Romanticizing every moment. Broadcasting life as itโs happening.
And it made me wonderโฆ
How many people are actually present in the moment theyโre living?
And how many are experiencing that moment through the lens of, โHow will this look when I post it?โ
Then attaching their self worth to the likes, the comments, the sharesโฆ even checking who viewed their story.
Iโm not saying this from some holier than thou perspective. Iโve lived that life since 2011. I built my career doing exactly that.
Maybe thatโs why I notice it now.
The strange part is that once youโve stepped away from it for a while, itโs hard not to see how much of social media revolves around performance and ego.
The irony isโฆ I also know that to build my business through my brand, I have to keep playing the game.
But itโs a strange feeling when something youโve started to outgrow is also the very thing your livelihood depends on.
It feels deeply misaligned.
Iโm not saying social media is all badโฆ
But I do think itโs made a lot of us forget what it feels like to simply experience life without needing to document it.
The REAL moments are usually the ones nobody ever posts.
(wrote this more directed towards IG but figured Iโd share on X all the same)
Things got really awkward when someone using N3onโs TTS asked LaVar Ball if heโd ever be friends again with Alan Foster the former co-founder of Big Baller Brand (BBB), who was accused of stealing $1.5 billion from the company and has a criminal history. ๐ณ๐
Where is the sisterhood on this? They always say men leave when things get hard. This man stayed by her side through her health crisis. He never left her. Then he suffered a life-changing amputation, and sheโs already talking about leaving to go do something โmore fun.โ If the roles were reversed, people would be outraged and calling the man every name in the book. Loyalty shouldnโt only matter when itโs convenient. He will find a much younger and attractive woman. She will be used for her money.
LaVar Ball revealed to N3on that he and his ex-wife Tina Ball have split up and that heโs already moved on ๐ฌ
โShe wanted to go another way.. we had a good run..โ
