One room. One shared question: what will it take to move Indiaโs deeptech ambition to scale?
On 12 January 2027, the Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (@IndianVCA) Bharat DeepTech Summit 2027 will bring together the ecosystem shaping that answer, including government, investors, founders, academia, research institutions and industry.
The conversation will move beyond innovation alone to the pathways that determine scale: capital, policy, procurement, commercialisation, market access and global ambition.
A day designed to bring the right voices into the same room and bring the most important deeptech conversations to the table.

Stanford University charges $65,127 per year in tuition. A 4-year degree costs roughly $260,000 before room, board, and fees. The acceptance rate is 3.6%. For every 100 students who apply, 96 are told no.
Stanford has also published for free, online, accessible to anyone on Earth with an internet connection over 2,100 courses, the complete AI curriculum its graduate students use, hundreds of full lecture series on YouTube, one of the most comprehensive philosophy references ever written, a design thinking toolkit used by Google and Nike, medical school health courses, business strategy lectures from Stanford GSB, entrepreneurship resources from the university that produced Google, Netflix, Instagram, LinkedIn, and PayPal and research papers that have shaped entire industries.
A Stanford professor told a friend: "Most people think Stanford's knowledge is locked behind a $65,000/year gate. It's not. The gate is the degree the credential, the campus, the network, the diploma. The knowledge has been free for over a decade published on YouTube, Coursera, edX, and Stanford's own website. The same lectures I give to students who paid $65,000 are sitting on a YouTube channel with 4 million subscribers. Most people have never searched for them because they assumed a university this expensive would never give anything away."
She said: "Why would Stanford give it away?"
"Because the degree is the product not the knowledge. The knowledge is the marketing. A free Stanford course that changes your life is the best advertisement for a $260,000 degree. And the research the papers, the encyclopedias, the toolkits exists to advance human knowledge, not to generate tuition revenue. Stanford publishes freely because the mission has always been public. The price tag is for the credential. The education has been free since the moment they uploaded the first lecture."
He showed her 11 free Stanford resources most people don't know exist resources that replaced $3,000 in textbooks, $10,000 in professional workshops, and $100,000 in degree programs.
"Stanford's reputation is behind a gate. Stanford's knowledge is not."
Here are the 11 resources ๐งต
We Must Pace the Frontier: Iโve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. Weโll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess modelsโ alignment during training.

Today, after 7 years in stealth, I, @emeskey and our co-founders are proud to announce @keplercompute.
The world is much better off when we give power & intelligence to the people. When everyone can become their highest selves by pairing their human creativity with the exponentially rising intelligence from our magnificent computers.
Our goal is to unlock the power of frontier intelligence for everyone by pushing memory and logic chip manufacturing to the limits of physics.
To achieve this, we will move the world from one of compute scarcity to abundance where we can make orders of magnitude more chips per dollar and can lower datacenter energies to the limits of physics. We will use physics to ensure we have enough chips and that we can power them on.
Why is compute scarce?
Today's dominant approach - shrinking transistors with EUV - has run into $20B-$40B fabs that take years to build. Sized against that risk, the industry (quite rationally!) grows capex much slower than AI demand that can grow 10x in a year.
In the current system, scarcity is built in.
A different way is possible.
We founded Kepler on the following beliefs:
1. It is possible to build leadership chips without a dependence on EUV
2. It is possible to achieve multiple orders of magnitude more intelligence per watt by evolving chips 2D Silicon to 3D Beyond silicon
3. It is possible to get much closer to the physical limits of computing than we are today while staying within mainstream digital computing
Memory is the biggest binding constraint on AI compute and so we start with a new frontier of AI memory- approaching the bandwidth per watt of SRAM, going up to 10x beyond the capacity of HBM. We use 3D and materials innovations that allow for leapfrogging leading nodes while requiring no EUV lithography and allowing us use fabs that already exist.
Our team co-led one of the industry's first 3D chip-stacking technologies, has led and scaled seven generations of DRAM and multiple logic designs into billions of chips. We built the world's first commercial physical synthesis tool and techniques at the heart of the logic design industry and solved long standing challenges in ferroelectrics, invented beyond CMOS logic devices. We would love to work with you to reinvent chip manufacturing here in America.
We have raised $468m, built our own fab and our AI memories sample this year and ramp to production next year. We are allocated for 2027 and will be scaling in America by 2028.
We are open for business, please get in touch to work together. We are also growing the group of Keplerians and would love to work with you.

Twenty years. But the story was never really about the years.
It was about the entrepreneurs who saw opportunities before they were obvious, built categories before they existed, and kept building when the outcome was far from certain.
Over the last two decades, Chiratae has had the privilege of backing founders across SaaS, e-commerce, fintech, consumer internet, healthcare, deeptech, spacetech and moreโeach building ahead of the curve and, in many cases, helping shape the categories that followed.
As Chiratae turns 20, we start where the story really belongs: with the companies and entrepreneurs who shaped the journey.

@KarthikPrabhakr you have contributed greatly to @ChirataeVC taking on challenges like fund raising & setting up the processes for a maturing organisation ๐
Wishing you and @PeerCapital_VC great success to build a reputable firm from the 2022 cohort of VCs
@ChirataeVC turns 20 today - a remarkable milestone for an institution that shaped the Indian venture ecosystem, and one that fundamentally shaped my entire VC career.
I spent ~12 formative years at Chiratae, joining as a summer intern in 2010 and leaving in 2022 with the conviction and wings to start @PeerCapital_VC.
Looking back, breaking into venture was serendipity meeting conviction. Back in 2010, when most of my IIMB batch was chasing traditional post-MBA tracks (rightfully so) with zero interest in this obscure domain called VC, @banglani took a bet on me. He wasnโt looking for someone chasing a standard placement slot; he was looking for raw curiosity and a genuine hunger to explore.
When the internship wrapped, what Sudhir valued most were simple, unteachable traits: agency, hustle, and the comfort to operate in fuzzy logic. That landed me a full-time seat at the table.
What followed was a masterclass in venture building under @sudhirksethi and @tcmsundaram. Chiratae gave me the ultimate launchpad to learn the craft on the ground:
โช๏ธ True founder advocacy: Standing in the arena with founders and fiercely backing them, even when they arenโt in the room
โช๏ธ Mastering uncertainty: Developing high conviction when data is sparse and the future is ambiguous
โช๏ธ The full-cycle VC playbook: From initial deal structuring to portfolio heavy-lifting, engineering exits, unlocking new domestic and global capital pools, and building a durable firm
VC firms are easy to start, but building an enduring institution across two decades of market cycles is rare.
Huge congratulations to Sudhir, TCM, and the entire Chiratae team on 20 incredible years. I count myself deeply privileged to have shared that journey for over a decade - and as we build PeerCapital into an institution of repute, those foundational lessons continue to guide the way.
Parenting means navigating a continuous stream of choices and decisions.
As parents themselves Chetan Sharma Vivek Khetan and Abhijit Gairola understand this experience firsthand. They are building Peeko not simply as another place to buy baby and kidsโ products, but as a destination that understands how parents discover, evaluate and choose for their children.
With this fundraise, Peeko will deepen its presence in Bengaluru, expand to new cities and move closer to its ambition of becoming the parenting partner for new-age parents.
Chiratae Ventures is partnering with Peeko on this next phase of its journey, alongside other investors.

Anoop Menon is now Investment Partner at Chiratae Ventures.
Consumer technology has been an important area of focus for Chiratae, and one where we have had the opportunity to back several companies through different stages of their growth.
Over the years, Anoop has played an increasingly important role in shaping and leading our work across the consumer technology portfolio and has worked closely with and backed several companies in the sector. His progression at Chiratae reflects both the contribution he has made to the investment team and the responsibility he has taken on as the firm has grown.
We are pleased to see him take on the role of Partner and a broader set of responsibilities at Chiratae. We congratulate Anoop on this next step in his journey and look forward to the contribution he will continue to make.
Congratulations, @anoopnmenon!

This clip is from the 2026 Asian U23 Athletics Championships, held at the Sport Development Center Stadium in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China, from 9โ12 July 2026.
Shravani Sangle, a 20-year-old sprinter from Maharashtra ran the final leg for India in the mixed 4ร400 m
China led going into the closing metres, & Shravani came from behind to pass Chinaโs anchor just 0.10 seconds ahead.
I was holding my breath watching that final lap. It didnโt look even conceivable that she would be able to catch up.
But Shravan wasnโt willing to see finishing second to a powerhouse like China as inevitable & acceptable.
She didnโt see the yawning gap as an impossibility.
She was practising the art of the possibleโฆ
Giving up wasnโt acceptable.

We quit our jobs.
There were six of us โ Shiv Nadar, Arjun Malhotra, Yogesh Vaidya, Subhash Arora, D.S. Puri and me.
It was 1976. Startups were not really a thing in India. Venture capital did not exist. Banks were not exactly lining up to lend money to six young men with an idea and no collateral.
And computers? Most people had barely heard of them.
But we believed the microprocessor was going to change the world.
So we took the plunge.
Between the six of us, we managed to put together โน1.87 lakh. We borrowed, pooled our savings and, in one case, even sold a car.
Our first office was a small barsati in Golf Links, Delhi.
We called ourselves Microcomp. We wanted to build an Indian computer.
There was just one problem.
We didnโt have a manufacturing licence.
That eventually led us to UP Electronics Corporation. They had the licence. We had the technology. And that partnership gave birth to Hindustan Computers Limited โ HCL.
But perhaps the most audacious part of the story was what happened next.
We started selling a computer that was still being designed.
We had a brochure and a mock-up of the machine. That was it.
Our sales teams went across India, knocking on doors and convincing businesses to buy into a technology they had never used before.
The first orders came from IIT Kharagpur and IIT Madras.
Then came the harder part โ convincing businesses.
In Coimbatore, we were up against DCM DP, a much bigger and more established name. I still remember sitting in the reception area of Premier Mills while the DCM team made its pitch.
We went in second.
And we won.
That one order gave us five more. Then ten.
That was HCL in those early years: not having the biggest balance sheet, the biggest brand or the easiest path โ but finding a way.
We were restless.
We looked for gaps. We hired people who had what we called a โcowboyโ spirit. We believed that technology had to be made useful and accessible, not intimidating.
And we kept moving.
From building Indiaโs early indigenous computers to taking our business to Singapore when HCL was just four years old. From a small room in Delhi to a global technology company.
When I look back at 50 years, I think about six people sitting together in 1976, wondering if this crazy idea could actually work.
I think about a barsati.
A brochure for a computer that did not yet exist.
And the courage to knock on the next door.
That, to me, is the real HCL story.
50 years later, the technology has changed beyond anything we could have imagined.
But the spirit remains the same:
Dream big. Take the risk. And above all, Just Aspire.
Happy 50th, HCL.
What a journey it has been.

TamilLM has finished pre-training. ๐
30 billion tokens. 57,221 steps. 1.5B parameters. ~48 hours of H100 time across two clusters (one of which our own safety guard assassinated 90 seconds after the first finish โ the resumed re-run reproduced the lost model to four decimal places).
Final report card, measured across ten registers of Tamil:
๐ Classical Sangam: 6.08 โ 3.50
๐๏ธ Bhakti devotional: 6.66 โ 3.67
๐ Literary prose: 4.69 โ 2.87
๐๏ธ Modern formal: 4.52 โ 2.69
Overall held-out loss: 4.61 โ 2.84
The hard old registers โ the reason this model exists โ improved the most, all the way to the final step.
Every checkpoint integrity-verified. Three copies on three storage domains before the GPUs go quiet. ~$2.2K all-in, failures and forensics included.
It already completes the first Thirukkural from three words. Next: post-training, so it doesn't just continue Tamil โ it converses in it. เฎตเฎณเฎฐเฏเฎ เฎคเฎฎเฎฟเฎดเฏ๐ฑ
P.S. Now looking for name suggestions for the model - as TamilLM is already taken on HF. Drop a comment with a model name - and the name with the most likes wins! ๐
The Research, Development and Innovation Fund (RDIF) is nearing its first phase of deployment, with around 20 Second Level Fund Managers expected to be announced shortly. Speaking at IVCA Chennai Circles 2026, organised by @IndianVCA along with @TVSCapitalFunds and @AnicutF, SP Singh, Nodal Officer In-charge, RDIF, shared updates on the Fundโs rollout, future cohorts, and expected deployment.
โThe first cohort we are almost near to conclusion; within a weekโs time we shall be announcing the fund managers whom we are going to support in the first phase,โ he said. He also urged Indian fund managers to look beyond โน1,000โ2,000 crore funds and build โน5,000โ6,000 crore funds capable of providing domestic capital to startups through later stages.
With the government expecting around โน20,000 crore to be deployed annually, the RDIF marks a significant step towards strengthening Indiaโs innovation financing ecosystem. The focus on larger domestic funds and wider participation in future cohorts could further accelerate this effort.

Hospitals and doctors have always been slow to adopt new technology, not because they don't want it, but because it usually means changing how they work.
What AI does is that itย fits into existing workflows, taking care of documentation, scheduling, claims and other administrative tasks without asking clinicians to change their routine. That's why it's gaining traction.
In the US, that means automating billing and administrative complexity to reduce costs. In India, where there simply aren't enough doctors, AI's role is different: helping every doctor do more, not replacing them.
And the companies most likely to win won't be the ones trying to reinvent all of healthcare. They'll be the ones that solve one frustrating problem exceptionally well, whether that's reducing paperwork, catching diseases earlier or improving care for chronic conditions-- and then build from there.
@YGokhroo and @_TanviD write on why we are seeing this shift, how it plays out differently in India and the US, and where we believe the biggest opportunities lie across healthcare AI.
If you are building at the intersection of AI and healthcare, whether in the US market or India, we would love to hear from you. Write to [email protected]
