Christian, kind of a geek/nerd. Jesus Christ is King of kings & Lord of lords, the only way to the Father (Jn 14:6) Repent and trust in Him for your salvation
I did not anticipate this book making me cry in the final chapter, if you, like me, love Frieren, I definitely recommend this short prequel.
Also, @mall0rie did a great job with the narration.
@RileyEatsGood@mall0rie I did buy the physical edition as well because I love Frieren so much, and I saw an option to pre-order the next one on amazon, maybe I'll just do that lol.
@RileyEatsGood It might be okay but idk, the old art style just seemed iconic, I would've liked a brand new game instead, personally, I'll have to wait and see with the remake.
@shagbark_hick I mean that's cool and all, you do you, but... Toasters aren't expensive and they work just fine, and I'd say objectively they're easier to use.
Not telling you what to do of course, but you're being a little disingenuous.
@Consevantive Absurdly large portions of food is one of the running gags in Frieren, I think it's fun, there's definitely some silliness sprinkled into the story and that's one of its many charms IMO.
"Lord thank you for burger king"
My mom used to say this occasionally when I was young, I would often accompany her on her grocery shopping trips back then, and she enjoyed BK so we'd usually get lunch there.
I used to internally roll my eyes a little when she said it, typical kid thinking his mom is a little cringe, but looking back I see that what she was doing, in her own way, was helping me learn to be grateful for what God has provided, even if it seemed silly to me at the time, maybe she didn't even realize it.
We live in an era of abundance, at least in the US, food is never too hard to come by, whether it's from a grocery store or the occasional treat from a fast food joint, we don't really want for much these days (I know there are exceptions, that's not the point)
And how often do we take time to thank God? He is ultimately the one who provides for us, whether we acknowledge Him or not, but even in times of want, He still provides and asks us to trust Him (Matthew 6:25-34) (Philipians 4:4-7)
So, lately I've been saying things like "Lord, thank you for Taco Bell," because if I can't be thankful with abundance, how can I still be thankful when I face want?
I don't know if any of this rambling made sense, but there it is. I do miss those grocery trips with my mom.
@TenebrisTehom@KutarkV@ReviewsPossum And I'm not even saying don't get Starbucks if that's what you like, but don't act like it's any healthier when you're still getting the same amount of sugar, drink what you like, but take care of yourself and don't overdo it on anything.
Even with that, the latte has more calories per ounce, even if it's just a little, also diet/zero versions of soft drinks have little to no calories if you want to bring in no sugar options.
Point is, starbucks is just as unhealthy as soft drinks. Also, most people don't think in terms of "per ounce" they more often think "it's only one drink," serving size is absolutely fair game when talking about the average person.
About $30 actually
1 lb ground beef: $8
Kraft cheese slices: $4
Iceberg lettuce (full head): $3
Ore-ida crinkle fries: $4
Heinz ketchup: $4
Hamburger buns: $3
1 lb Tomatoes: $2
1 lb red onions: $2
Total: $30
All prices sourced from Walmart, rounded up to whole dollar amount, some brand substitutions made because I couldn't find them on the Walmart app.
And that's with brand name products, get store brand or better yet shop at Aldi and you'll cut that price down significantly.
