@Conor_D_Dart 5.6 still overthinks and over-engineers. In my experience Fable is good at getting it "just right". That being said, 5.6 has definitely poked some holes in fable plans/implementations.
Thanks @mkratsios47 for speaking out on this important issue. Illicit, adversarial distillation is IP theft and industrial espionage that supports adversary military and intelligence capabilities. It is a national challenge that creates serious national security risks for the United States and democratic allies. We'll continue to crack down on it and work with the Administration and Congress to maintain American AI leadership. ๐บ๐ธ
One of my favorite things about the AI tools of recent is that it's making the web weird again. It's bringing back nostalgic memories of when the web was full of curious people and nerds.
Beginning July 20, Claude Fable 5 will be included in all Max and Team Premium plans, at 50% of limits.
Pro and Team Standard users will continue to have access to Fable via usage credits, and will receive a one-time $100 credit.
Demand for Fable has been challenging to predict, which is why we rolled it out to subscription plans in stages, extending access several times as we secured additional capacity.
This emerging industry is doing what software companies are supposed to do: compete and improve products rapidly. My view is, we should treat this as normal human progress and avoid moral, regulatory, and geopolitical panics over AI.
This is the beginning of the end of the AI luddite movement and itโs long overdue. AI is a generational productivity tool for all fields, and companies whose decisions get co-opted by AI haters will become entirely unviable as competition whizzes by with better products.
@thsottiaux In a time of uncertainty with frontier models, 5.6 Sol has been very reliable. It's a workhorse that I know will keep going until it finds the issue.
.@pmarca says the best career advice for young people trying to break into tech comes down to three things:
- "Run to the heat."
- Come to Northern California if you want to work on AI
- "Be so good they can't ignore you."

At this point, Iโve given up hope that Xโs bot-reply problem is solvable. The โthe part no one saysโ writing is annoying, but worse is that they all make similar points.
Proposal: X should measure semantic distance in latent space and surface replies that offer actual variation.
If false advertising is illegal, how do frontier labs get away with rug pulling models and quantizations? We should listen to the folks on the frontier asking for regulation, but not in the way they're asking...
This has been obvious to anyone who studies history and previous technological revolutions.
We abstract lower level problems away and move up the stack to new problems. That creates new complexity and a wider variety of jobs.
Complexity breeds more complexity.
The work is infinite because the problems are infinite. No machine, human, or man and machine hybrid can solve them all.
AI is not magic and we need to stop thinking about it that way.
The stack of problems is infinite and never ending.
