The success of Beyoncé’s Cécred came from skipping the ‘relatable’ route entirely and letting the products speak for themselves, according to TGLM Studio.
I think beauty marketing relies on relatability to sell products because of the influx of influencers/celebrities launching lines vs. artists/experts in their fields.
The idea is the more accessible you are = sales but that has proven to be untrue.
Social media intensified the focus on relatability as a selling point and accelerated the old “emotional branding” marketing tool. The idea that products just need to work and be proven in quality is coming back and Beyoncé + Cécred is the best example of this right now
Beyond Relatability: The Cécred launch showed us: proof speaks louder than performance.
“Think Cécred. Launched in 2024 to early critiques that Beyoncé was “too private” to sell haircare, it skipped the relatability playbook. No counter-top routines. No livestreams. No founder oversharing to prove her accessibility. Instead: receipts. Patent-pending Bioactive Keratin Ferment technology that repaired hair at a molecular level.
And then the reviews came in. Customers used the products, saw their hair strengthen and shine, and the word spread. The quality itself became the marketing. What sold the brand wasn’t Beyoncé posting like a “relatable” founder — it was proof.
By 2025, Cécred was a multiple award-winning haircare brand, named one of the most powerful in beauty, with its Restoring Hair & Edge Drops selling every 16 seconds. Reviews and testimonials carried it further than any scripted performance — people sharing results, passing along their own before-and-after stories, creating the ripple effect.
That’s resonance: when results outlast the noise, when skepticism breaks into trust, and quality itself becomes the campaign.”

People pleasing doesn't only affect quiet girls. Even the loudest of us are gaslighting ourselves into thinking being too much is a thing. Newsflash: you are enough, always.
Just to unpack a *bit* of the racism here: the lady who says that she thinks Harris is "not smart" is ALSO the lady who said she doesn't know anything about her, or what she did as VP.
So with no actual knowledge, she just *assumes* the Black woman is "not smart."
Lies. Between 2004-2010 Kamala Harris was district attorney of San Francisco. In that time, there were 1956 marijuana convictions. Of those convicted, only 45 ever served jail time. Why?
In 2005 Kamala created a program called Back On Track, allowing low level non violent drug offenders to enroll in school in lieu of doing jail time.
When they graduate, their records are wiped clean, preventing barriers to employment in the future. The program was found to reduce recidivism, which was typically around 53%, to less than 10%.
"Kamala is a cop" is propaganda.
