“ I’m too tired ‘n don’t wanna cut myself by accident. ”
Sitting down on the bed he glanced up at Negan again.
“ Thank you. For takin’ me in. I’ll do whatever it takes to repay ya. ”
“ Don’t ya think I look amazin’? ”
He feigned a hairflip and chuckled.
“ I’ll do it in the mornin’. ”
He saw there were some clean clothes laid out on the bed. Putting on the boxers and a t-shirt, he took a deep breath.

A brief nod.
“ Guess I got lucky. ”
The luck was him now having a big gash on his arm. It was worth seeing Daryl make all the mental notes on what he got.

“ What are ya fixing? Handwork like that looks complicated as hell. ”
He frowned. Never really understood how people had the patience to do such a thing.
He shook his head, not much help he needed, just some company would be nice.

He stared absentmindedly. Too much going on in his head, maybe some distraction would to the trick.

“ I remember you practically scream my name. ”

⠀
⠀⠀⠀‶ Either way, I still remember th' day you walked out in it first time. ″
Carol nodded, soft features highlighted by the rays of sunshine.
“ They were perfectly cut. I wouldn’t have been surprised if you’d told me you were a butcher before all this. ”
She rummaged around for a moment, grabbing something else from outside the door.

— Were his own silent way of reassurin' Rick... N' regardless of his own doubts, nippin' back of heel, he was doin' his best not to sully a gentle moment like this.

“ I got you two some water to get cleaned up. You’re still covered in blood. ”
Carol was so kind to them, so accepting.
