🛑 She Lied on the Record — and the Highlands Deserve Better 🛑
At the June 3rd MPC meeting, Alderwoman Bernetta Lanier spoke out against the proposed rezoning in the Highlands, stating publicly that residents did not support it.
But just 23 days later, at the June 26th City Council meeting, she did a complete reversal — telling the Mayor, City Manager, and Council that residents supported the rezoning, and that our only concern was traffic (which she claimed SPLOST would solve in November).
Let’s be clear:
❌ That is not what we told her.
❌ We never supported this rezoning.
❌ Our concerns go far beyond traffic.
✅ We’re worried about:
• Overcrowded schools
• Loss of commercial/retail space
• Poor infrastructure planning
• Dishonest leadership
Alderwoman Lanier lied on the record — not just to Council, but to the entire City of Savannah. That’s an ethics violation. That’s a betrayal of public trust. And that demands accountability.
The Highlands community is rising. We are angry. We are united. And we’re not backing down.
We demand:
📍 A formal censure
📍 A reconsideration of the vote
📍 Leaders who actually represent us

@SecVetAffairs@washingtonpost@MerylKornfield @DanEggenWPost We need to do better with community care. I had such a bad experience in a VA hospital that going to VA hospitals is hard. I think if you’re 100% P&T we should have something like tricare to use anywhere 100% covered.
@SecVetAffairs@DeptVetAffairs Get rid of community care the way that it is because it is absolute garbage. Make VA a health insurance system not healthcare.
This is close to the budget for my school district in Georgia, and they are requesting more funding. Can we get that money to help lower our property taxes? I attempted to use the Freedom of Information Act to obtain records from the district, but they are wanting to charge me $7,000 for the request.
@JoJoFromJerz Do you understand that the services will not go away? There will still be funding just not through the department of education, but probably through health and human services or similar agency. I have a child with an IEP and another with a 504. I'm not concerned.
@elonmusk@grok Grok helps with meal planning and workout tips too. @RobertKennedyJr should love this AI.
You can even give it foods that you usually eat and ask for lower calorie, higher protein, lower fat options. It’ll also give you the recipe.
@proudelephant@elonmusk He should tell the left how many veterans and veteran family members he employs at Tesla. See if they actually care about vets or if we are just a talking point to fit their narrative.
@elonmusk you should see how many veterans and veteran families you employ at Tesla. The left threw a fit that some federal employees that are part of the reduction in force are veterans… Throw it back at them. Count up your veteran community at Tesla. See if they actually care about veterans or only when it fits their narrative.
I submitted two public records requests to SCCPSS—one for personnel info and another for contracts—because no one seems able to pinpoint where we can trim the budget. My thought? Let the public figure it out.
The response? A $5,000+ fee for the contracts and $1,500 for staff lists with job duties.
I’m seriously worried that this level of contract detail hasn’t been requested before—or isn’t readily available—to those tasked with fiscal oversight, like SCCPSS board members or district leaders. The fact that contract scopes and costs haven’t been closely examined raises big red flags about accountability and whether terms are even being followed. This just proves why the public deserves access to this info.
Maybe state auditors, the Board of Education, or legislators will step up and dig into this, because I can’t shell out these insane fees—and honestly, we shouldn’t have to. Thoughts?
