Overlooked Tony stat from last night: With his win in Best Featured Actor in a Musical last night, Ali Louis Bourzgui officially becomes the hottest person to ever win a Tony!
P!NK's "gitchy gitchy lesley manville" opening number at the Tony Awards is the first time I've deeply understood her. i think she should win a nobel prize now.
Hyping up Adrien Brody introducing the Ragtime performance only for him to just say “Please welcome the company of Ragtime” is the funniest thing the Tonys has ever done.
Before pride month starts im just gonna say this:
-men’s mental health month is in November
-straight pride isn’t a thing. Nobody has ever been oppressed or killed for being straight
-veterans get 2 months. May and November
So do some research before complaining :)
I love the nuanced real Nikki at the start of the film
Sweet, sincere and Sassy. A genuinely good person, gives money to the homeless etc, but has a certain cheekiness and charming ness to her. A woman full of aspirations, her loss of autonomy is genuinely devastating
THIS! Behind the glamour, the theatrics, a musician knows what she is able to do here. She is seeing chords, rhythms, and legit able to play them in any octave, however she feels in the moment. This goes beyond "reading sheet music" she may hear A minor in one octave during one run through, but the next time she says ok, let's run with this, and her being a master of her craft... she knows where to keep her range. Imagine being able to perform, know choreography, where to look for cameras, etc, all while your mind is also doing this. It's beyond extraordinary.
