Today I found myself reflecting on my role as chair in the 'Mitigating the Impact of Violence against Health Care' session during the Health Care in Danger Initiative Africa Regional Meeting in 2020. This ICRC-organized global summit aimed at creating preventive strategies to protect healthcare facilities. However, years later, I'm saddened that our deliberations seem unimplemented, a mere ink on paper.
In the face of conflict, healthcare workers, despite their pandemic frontline dedication, are perceived as the most vulnerable. It's important to remember that our role transcends saving lives; we also ensure that those we lose pass away fearlessly and with dignity. This calls for our unwavering presence, rather than fleeing.
The idea of violent attacks in a healthcare setting is not just an assault on us, but on our proud commitment to our profession. In these spaces, we uphold our ethics above all else. Disagreements and regrets following an attack on a health care facility are futile, as the damage done undermines the facility's core values of humanity—values stronger than any weapon.

In order to effectively overcome the obstacles that stand in the way of achieving global gender equality, it is essential to empower #women and young people by ensuring and safeguarding their access rights to education, a fair judicial system, and employment. #empowerement#youth
The concept of "gender equality" is not intended to be a favor done primarily for the benefit of women as a show of goodwill. It represents the right to access all living components associated to mankind on an equal footing at all different levels. #genderequality#rights
