The link between climate change (in an anthropogenic sense) and droughts is actually not so crystal clear.
Globally, there has been no statistically significant change in the amount of land area experiencing meteorological drought since the early 1980s, when reliable monitoring began (p-value = 0.195). Trends in exceptional drought are even less significant (p = 0.263)

In the U.S., there has been no increase in either the amount of abnormally dry land area or magnitude of droughts since at least 1895. The worst droughts on record occurred during the 1930s and 1950s.

As for the western U.S., while much of the region has indeed been in drought for the last 25 years, it is not at all unprecedented in geological scope, though it is in terms of its socioeconomic impacts simply because of the tens of millions of people who live there and rely on the water. That said, meteorologically speaking, the region has experienced many droughts eclipsing the current, the most recent of which lasted ~400 years from 900–1300 AD during the Medieval Warm Period (Cook et al., 2004).

Morgan & Pomerleau (2012) further support the idea of a Medieval Megadrought with a study on Cliff Lake in the Sierra Nevada. They concluded that waters in Cliff Lake were ~5 meters lower than present levels for a period of ~50 years more than 600 years ago. They were able to determine this by radiocarbon dating the wood and noting where the stump is submerged.

While drought increasing in certain regions (e.g., the Western U.S.) would potentially be consistent with anthropogenic global warming, it's also consistent with natural global warming or some combination of both. I fundamentally and completely reject the idea that America will not thrive without illegal foreign labor.
Or that we cannot have thriving farms without illegal foreign labor.
It’s an insult to every part of our heritage, to generations of our families that bled to build what we have today.

Within the last year, after the Nebraska Unicameral passed legislation intended to protect entry-level jobs, both Omaha and Lincoln adopted ordinances raising minimum wages - undoubtedly reducing entry-level opportunities and placing heavy strain on small businesses. For reference, when adjusted for cost of living, $15 an hour in Nebraska is equivalent to more than $20 an hour in much of California.
Yes, voters approved a minimum-wage initiative, but we should heed a warning: democracy is fragile when short-term giveaways outweigh long-term freedom. As Edmund Burke observed, “A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury.” Or private business.
The same danger arises when voters empower mandates for increased benefits from private businesses. Entry-level, minimum-wage jobs were never intended to be permanent, family-supporting roles - they are steppingstones. These positions teach reliability, teamwork, and customer service, and they open doors to higher-paying work. When wages for starter roles are pushed beyond the value those roles can generate, businesses respond by cutting hours, eliminating entry positions, or automating - hurting the very people seeking their first opportunities.
In healthy markets, competition for talent naturally raises pay and benefits for workers building careers. Employers offer higher wages, training, bonuses, flexible schedules, and advancement opportunities to attract and retain good employees - because if they don’t, a competitor will. That is how sustainable upward mobility occurs: through skills, performance, and market demand - not blanket mandates that squeeze small businesses and shrink opportunities.
We should keep opportunity open: more jobs, more rungs on the ladder, and a system that rewards growth - not promises that can’t be sustained.
