Yesterday in Kisumu City, Kenya, @afrocab_hiv joined @MandelaTb for the 2026 International AIDS Candle Light Memorial under the theme LIGHT THE LEGACY. Remember. Advance. Act.

We remembered lives lost, advanced community leadership through the launch of the #AHD Support Network & Support Group, and strengthened long-term community ownership.

The memorial brought together young people, partners, @afrocab_hiv AHD Champion @erickokioma, and CAB member Sharon Obilo, who shared experiences and testimonies on the realities of Advanced HIV Disease and the importance of community-led responses.

Today, we are at Kinywante landing site in Uganda, providing health services including:

♦️PrEP and PEP initiation
♦️Advanced HIV Disease (AHD) screening and CD4 testing
♦️Cervical cancer screening
♦️Contraception and SRHR services
♦️Nutrition support and counseling
♦️GBV screening and referral services

Communities at landing sites often face major barriers to healthcare access, including long distances to health facilities.That is why integrated outreach programs like these are critical for early diagnosis, treatment access, prevention, dignity, and continuity of care.

People-centered healthcare means taking services closer to the people, reducing missed opportunities for care, and ensuring that no one is left behind.

We concluded our activities at the @icasa2025 by conducting a health talk with government bus drivers at the event. The talk covered HIV & stigma prevention, treatment adherence, etc.
