MSU Athletics honored the legendary Jim Bibbs today. Bibbs played a key role at MSU during the racial tensions of the late 1960s. Rather than escalating conflict, he focused on dialogue and practical changes, including support for minority recruitment and student organizations.
Richard Lord was one of the first Black college hockey players in the United States when he suited up for @MSU_Hockey in 1950. Lord is believed to be the first Black hockey captain in the NCAA when he wore the C in the 1952-53 season #Hockey365#BlackHistoryMonth
Tom Izzo on Xavier Booker of UCLA returning to Breslin on Tuesday: "I hope our fans treat him with the respect he deserves. He was a great student. He never caused any problems. He always did his job. I hope our fans welcome him back. I really think a lot of him and wish I could have done a better job getting everything out of him. I pull for him every game but one."
No. 2 Michigan State beats No. 1 Michigan 5-2 for their third consecutive Iron D Trophy.
Michigan State is now in first place in the Big Ten standings with the win.
They also took 7 of 12 points on the season against the Wolverines.
There are many!
In the 1960s, Michigan State integrated the sport.
Coach Duffy Daughtery was vilified.
MSU endured endless mocking by the rest of the nation for daring to welcome Black players on the team without quotas or stipulations.
Duffy’s peers said he’d never win with so many Black players.
How could he control them? How could he keep the racial peace?
A prominent donor vowed to withdraw his support if Duffy didn’t stop recruiting Black players.
One rival even burned a Black MSU player in effigy at a school-sanctioned rally.
The entire country was against MSU. They were certain the Spartan experiment would fail.
Duffy told them to blow it out their ass, winning back-to-back national championships in a feat no Big Ten team has achieved in 60 years since.
4 of the Black players everyone told MSU to shun went 1st, 2nd, 4th and 8th in the 1967 NFL Draft, still the most Top-8 picks from one school in history.
Those Black stars - and the coach who told everyone else to shove it - should have a statue outside Spartan Stadium.

It comes from the program. Why is their student manager who will be behind their bench tonight spitting on our logo? What sort of message does that send? A disgusting act that will never be forgotten
I’m so glad you guys are - once again - obsessed with MSU receiving a donation.
Any chance we can get this enthusiasm on the Corum LLC.?
I can help you there!
Or perhaps the Mel Pearson fiasco?
Or Dusty May actively cheating?
But yeah, keep pestering MSU donors.
The Walter Camp Award has been awarded 57 times since 1967.
56-of-57 winners finished Top-3 in the Heisman vote.
Kenneth Walker III finished 6th.
The biggest sham in the 88-year history of the Heisman.
OK.
Dusty May is tampering with other schools’ players and has made multiple enemies of coaches in the Big Ten who view him as a cheating weasel running afoul of the rules.

MASTERCLASS from Izzo & his staff developing a player that was hardly recruited. Now, he is one of the best defensive bigs in the country & his offense game is coming along as well. No one expected Carson Cooper to be this good as a senior, but here we are! Via @AndrewTalksHoop
