The govt's Student Loan Plan 2 repayment freeze in April 2027 must be reversed. It isn't moral.
I'm concerned that my debate with Kemi Badenoch this morning distracts from the most immediate problem. In April 2027 Rachel Reeves will freeze the Plan 2 student loan threshold until 2030 which by then will increase graduate repayments by £300/yr more.
This is effectively a unilateral negative breach of the student loan contract. Students were told the threshold would rise with average earnings. No commercial lender would be allowed to do this. The govt shouldn't do it either.
Changing the terms of future students loans is a political decision - people may not like it but it is transparent. Negatively changing the terms of contracts already signed, and long in place, is a breach of natural justice.
How can people have forgotten how bad it got under Solskjaer already? Can’t believe some of the stuff I’m seeing on here. No wonder the club doesn’t take the fans seriously.
@Arfaan11 From what I’ve seen, I’m not even sure getting an insane athlete like Baleba and playing him next to Bruno would work. It would be better but I still think we’d get overrun most games. I’d accept an amount that you could throw straight at Baleba or Wharton and get them. 100m?
@Arfaan11 I know you like Bruno, but he isn’t a central midfielder, I just can’t much improving with him in there. If there’s an opportunity to cash in on him this week and then throw that money at a Baleba or Wharton to play with Mainoo then I think that would be infinitely better
@Arfaan11 I’m sure it won’t be but after today I have some major doubts over the system and mentality. I don’t think we’ve changed enough for there to be a marked improvement. Unless we do some major shake up in this last week, I can’t see us finishing much higher than 10th
@Arfaan11 Amorim needs to develop some luck and fast. We have to go get a goalkeeper after that. But a positive performance – only criticism is the composure in the box is still not there at all, hence not scoring
@Arfaan11 100% keeper is a bigger priority. It’s the first game but the outfield has shown it can go toe to toe with a top side. We are losing purely because of the man between the sticks.
@Arfaan11 It’s a worry we don’t seem to be linked with anyone. Could see us getting Douglas Luiz on loan as a stop gap, which I’d take over nothing but need to be looking long term! I’ve no idea what Amorim wants from the midfield and not sure he does either hence no obvious fits out there
@Arfaan11 I agree we need a 9 but I would rather go into the season with the attacking options we have and get a midfielder than buy a 9 and no midfielder. No.9 will get goals but won’t make much difference to whether we control games. We won’t control any games with current midfielders
@Arfaan11 Agree. In many ways, the team isn’t good enough to have a Bruno in it at this point. If selling him allows you to finally do a proper rebuild I think we have to. But to answer your question, no I don’t trust them but the funds from Bruno have to go on a whole new midfield for me
