🇺🇸 Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei just compared the U.S.-China AI race to the Cold War.

He’s worried both sides could end up with tech powerful enough to cause “potential destruction.”

His fix? Slow the race down and actually talk to China about putting some limits on it, the same way the U.S. and Soviet Union eventually talked about nukes.

Amodei says it’s not in anyone’s interest to let this thing run wild. Elon and Sam Altman are backing his concerns. Others aren’t buying it. David Sacks called the warnings fear-mongering aimed at more government control.

Meanwhile some researchers are painting an even darker picture: advanced AI eventually running the factories and military, then just stopping listening to humans.

Slow it down with China, or keep sprinting and hope the tech doesn’t outrun us. That’s the choice on the table.
