Visitors to Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium who recently visited the popular puffin habitat are being asked to monitor themselves for symptoms after three tufted puffins died from suspected cases of psittacosis, also known as avian chlamydiosis, parrot fever or ornithosis, an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Chlamydia psittaci.
