“But the key focus of President Obama was not Medicaid expansion.”

“It was what he thought would be these very competitive marketplaces for health insurance.”

“And it was a very complicated structure.”

“They had all of these price controls, which made the insurance very unattractive for young, healthy individuals.”

“So in order to get them into the market, they created a tax penalty called the individual mandate.”

“The individual mandate was really ineffective.”

“The penalty size was too small to get people to buy a very overpriced insurance product.”

“Congress fortunately repealed that tax penalty, and it had very little effect on the market.”

“The market was less than half of what was expected because the plans were expensive.”

“High premiums, high deductibles.”

“They didn’t really cover the best doctors and providers in areas.”

“Under the Biden presidency, they significantly expanded the Obamacare subsidies.”

“That did lead to a significant increase in the number of enrollees in Obamacare.”

“Including a huge problem of phantom enrollees.”

“People that were signed up without their knowledge or consent because of the financial gains that could accrue to insurers and enrollment intermediaries from enrolling people.”

Now, crowdfunded alternatives to traditional healthcare are becoming more and more popular.

And traditional healthcare is losing the people it desperately needs to fund the entire system.
