What is the connection between attention span, #socialmedia & mental #wellbeing?
Tune into our latest episode of #TheFutureOf podcast with Curtin's @DrPatClarke & @TMahalingham to learn how our cognitive processes are changing in response to technology: https://t.co/XJjHQSzTrR
How good are you at estimating your social media use?
Our recent paper (@TMahalingham @PeterMcEvoy13) suggests probably pretty bad, and this carries some serious implications for social media research that has relied heavily on self-report use in the past π§΅π
I'm on a roll: New article with @DrPatClarke and @PeterMcEvoy13 is open access til Jan 10.

Can you guess how much #socialmedia you use? most people can't! Our findings suggest frequently used self-report social media use measures don't reflect actual use.
My new article with @DrPatClarke@joel_howl
"Assessing the Effects of Acute Reductions in Mobile Device Social Media Use on Anxiety and Sleep" is open access until November 20 https://t.co/wFEXMWA8px
I've done it again! - My second article looking at causal relationships between social media use with sleep/ anxiety with @DrPatClarke & @joel_howl is In Press and available online now!

Congratulations to the very first of our Masters of Research graduates Amy Black, on the acceptance of her MRes dissertation:
The Effect of the Fears of Positive and Negative Evaluation on Emotional and Cognitive Outcomes in Imagined and In Vivo Social-Evaluative Situations
@KaiSchweizer @eatmeetswest Particularly at the time when most of our cis-het peers are pursuing and obtaining their licences. For a number of queer people these supports are unavailable for various reasons
@KaiSchweizer @eatmeetswest I wonder if there are other unique barriers, (possibly related to unsafe/unsupportive home environments for adolescents/ young adults) things like fees associated, access to a car (and appropriately experienced supervisor) for getting hours etc.
Watch this short video from @drlaurenjbreen about her #ActiveIngredientsMH project, which seeks to understand the impact that grief reduction interventions can have on reducing anxiety and depression in young people aged 14-24 years:

Thrilled to share the very first paper from my incredibly talented Masters (soon PhD) student @TMahalingham (also feat @joel_howl).
This examined the potential role of attention control in social media use and psychological distress https://t.co/lPj8h5qg9Z 1/4
I've put my hat in for a #VisualiseYourThesis#VYT competition, would appreciate it if you could throw me a vote for people's choice. (My video is 5th and my name is at the bottom of the list for voting).
