Let me be blunt with these postliberals — Christianity isn’t true because Christians inhabit a ‘coherent story’.

Christianity is true because the story actually happened.

Jesus didn’t rise from the dead because the Church developed a meaningful “grammar” around resurrection. He either walked out of that tomb or He didn’t. Paul says it plainly: if Christ wasn’t raised, our faith is worthless.

Period.

That matters in our political system, too. Once truth gets grounded in some weird internal logic of a community, the next question becomes: which community gets to define the public good? Some of these political postliberals cats openly argue that our government should move beyond liberal neutrality and ORDER society toward a more substantive “common good.”

Yo! That right there is where this Protestant American says: absolutely freakin’ not.

I want Christianity preached boldly. Yes, I want Christians influencing culture. Yes, I absolutely want Scripture proclaimed without apology.

What I don’t want is Caesar deciding what Christianity means.

The minute this government starts enforcing “Christian order,” somebody’s got to decide which Christianity gets the badge and the gun. The Catholics? No thanks. Reformed? Baptist? Orthodox? Anglican? No ma’am.

This here is your answer — You protect my right to preach Jesus Christ.

You do NOT become my bishop.

That ain’t secularism, baby — that’s called religious liberty.
