This morning in Portsmouth we begin two days of commemorations to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
We will never forget the extraordinary bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for freedom on that fateful day.

Today we begin two days of thanks to the veterans of D-Day, whose heroic service liberated Europe from Nazi tyranny, ensuring our peace and freedom. #DDay80
Today D-Day veterans head to France from Portsmouth for commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings.
They were played out by the Jedburgh Pipe Band and enjoyed a flypast from an A400M, alongside The Royal Navy escorts HMS Cattistock and HSM Trumpeter.
