That breakdown is sleight-of-hand, not accounting.

He’s stacked different taxes on the same £100 as if they all apply at once and treated VAT—money he never keeps—as his income. That’s how you magically turn a normal tax system into a fake 74% headline.

In reality:

VAT goes straight to HMRC, he never earns it.

Corporation tax only applies to profit after costs, not turnover.

Dividend tax only applies after corporation tax, not to the original £100.

So the whole calculation falls apart the moment you stop pretending a business has 100% profit and zero overheads.

It’s a trick designed to shock people who don’t know the tax structure — not a reflection of how small business taxation actually works.
