Delta Farmers Know the Truth!

Hon’ble PM Thiru Narendra Modi, thank you for praising the hardworking farmers of the Cauvery Delta. They truly deserve recognition. But the farmers of Tamil Nadu also know a hard truth, you remember them only during elections, while ignoring their needs the rest of the time.

Instead of speeches and seasonal praise, let us look at the facts and real progress achieved under the DMK government, compared to the stagnant years under your obedient AIADMK regime.

Massive Expansion of Paddy Storage Capacity

When the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government assumed office in 2021, Tamil Nadu had just 1 lakh MT capacity in operational paddy storage godowns.

In just five years, the DMK government has taken decisive action,
253 modern storage facilities constructed, adding 4 lakh MT capacity at a cost of Rs 331 crore, all fully operational.

Another 130 godowns under construction, which will add 3.3 lakh MT capacity at Rs 495 crore.

Once completed, the total storage capacity will exceed 7 lakh MT, a sevenfold increase from the situation inherited from the AIADMK government.

Higher Incentives Above MSP for Farmers

As everyone knows, Minimum Support Price (MSP) is fixed by the Union Government, and states can only provide incentives above it.

The DMK government stepped in to ensure farmers receive better returns.

Incentive for fine variety paddy increased from Rs 70/quintal to Rs 156/quintal
Incentive for common variety increased from Rs 50/quintal to Rs 131/quintal

That is a 123% increase for fine varieties and a massive 162% increase for common varieties .

With these incentives, farmers now receive,
Rs 2,545 per quintal for fine paddy
Rs 2,500 per quintal for common paddy

This fulfills the Rs 2,500 per quintal promise made in the 2021 election manifesto by Hon’ble Chief Minister M. K. Stalin.

Record Procurement Under the DMK Government

The numbers tell a clear story.

AIADMK Government (2016–2021):
Total procurement: 113.51 lakh tonnes
Annual average: 22.70 lakh tonnes

DMK Government (2021–2025):
Total procurement: 170.45 lakh tonnes
Annual average: 42.61 lakh tonnes

That is nearly double the annual procurement compared to the AIADMK era.

In 2025 alone, Tamil Nadu created history by procuring over 47 lakh tonnes of paddy, a record that reflects both higher production and stronger government support.

Growth in Cultivation, Irrigation, and Allied Sectors
The transformation is visible across the agricultural ecosystem.

The total cultivated area increased from 57.26 lakh hectares (2016-21 average) to 62.32 lakh hectares by 2025.

The gross cropped area rose to 47.58% of the state's land area.

So while the Union Government engages in hate politics and selective praise, the DMK government continues to work relentlessly on the ground for the welfare of Tamil Nadu’s farmers.

Because farmers deserve results, not rhetoric 🌾
