His premise is accurate -- DePIN is a new name for a space that's been around for many years.

And his subsequent question is totally valid.

It doesn't mean, however, that DePIN's time has not come.

The same way someone could have posted the following in 2009/2010:

"Why do people think #Bitcoin will actually work?

It feels like a new name for something that's been around for over a decade (eCash, B-money, Bit Gold, Hashcash) but has never gotten off the ground? So what's the bull case for why it will get off the ground now?"

Victor Hugo famously said there's "nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come."

That's very much the case for DePIN today. The genie is out of the bottle 🧞
