Coming up with the idea for a video is always a different process. I was shown this demo years ago by a physicist at UCLA. Then, Mike at @TSFountainworks inspired the idea to film this in slow motion, but needed to find a camera fast enough...

To compensate, I created an air chamber at the end of a vacuum cannon (see cutaway photo) that is part of the vacuum that gives the air someplace to get out of the way.

I’ve experienced a 50% increase w/ atmo pressure and 100% speed increase w/ added pressure w/ ping pong balls

@DestinSandlin @smartereveryday THANK YOU for the 500mph golf ball video. At 6:14 in the video confimed my hypothesis that air gets in front of the projectile creating an airbreak that massivly slows it down.
