On May 18, 2026, when a launch carrying 64 National Service students began sinking in rough seas near Hulhumalé, these brave female @MNDF_Official instructors stayed calm & made sure every trainee survived. They comforted terrified students, guided them to safety & were among the last to leave the vessel themselves. True courage and leadership from the women of the MNDF. 🇲🇻🫡
Grazie! ❤️

Sergente Maggiore Mohamed Mahudhee.
I run a small paediatric clinic with occupational therapists and speech pathologists. @bankofmaldives has decided that the national limit has reached & now I can't renew my subscription to my practice management software. 1/3
Great news for British shoppers and Maldivian fishermen. The UK is suspending tariffs on tuna, helping bring prices down in the UK while opening better market access for Maldivian tuna. A win for affordability and sustainable tuna, caught one fish at a time. 🎣🐟

I am deeply sorry for the loss of lives of the Italian divers/researchers. I can't imagine anyone who loved the ocean so would have asked others to risk their lives to recover bodies. A better risk assessment & sense should prevail over tourism PR @MNDF_Official@presidencymv

Absolutely devastating news! Frontline workers risking their lives is an inherent part of their job. But, there should be an investigation whether this recovery mission posed too greater a risk
Innaalillaahi vainnaa ilaihi raajioon. Much strength to officer's family & loved ones
Over a period of six weeks, about 80,000 women were brutally raped and tortured by Japanese soldiers, including young girls and elderly women. Many were mutilated and killed after being assaulted, and the overall death toll ranges from 200,000 to 300,000 people. The Rape of Nanjing is considered the worst mass rape in world history.
The scale was staggering. Rape victims ranged from infants to the elderly, and were often murdered afterward. John Rabe, leader of the Safety Zone, wrote in his diary: "Last night up to 1,000 women and girls are said to have been raped, about 100 girls at Ginling College alone. You hear nothing but rape. If husbands or brothers intervene, they're shot."
One former Japanese soldier in the 114th Division recalled: "No matter how young or old, they all could not escape the fate of being raped. We sent out coal trucks from Hsiakwan to the city streets and villages to seize a lot of women. And then each of them was allocated to 15 to 20 soldiers for sexual intercourse and abuse."
General Matsui Iwane and Lieutenant General Tani Hisao, who had personally participated in acts of murder and rape, were found guilty of war crimes by the International Military Tribunal for the Far East and were executed.
Not long ago, when the bakeries were still operating, I went to the bakery—or rather, to the greatest struggle I have ever faced in my life. I entered amid more than a thousand people reaching their hands towards the bakery window. After a struggle that lasted more than six hours, I finally got a bag of bread.
As I was leaving, an elderly man stopped me and asked for some loaves. When I looked at his face and he looked at mine, we recognized each other. He was one of my university professors who had taught me. He saw my face and knew me, but he didn't say anything. I deliberately acted as though I didn't recognize him to spare him any embarrassment. I gave him half of the bread, and he left.
I followed him without him noticing. I found him sitting on the sidewalk, eating and crying. He was crying, and I was crying, not knowing what to do. I left him to cry alone and returned to the tent.
Fuck this vile world.
Some have said that claims that Israel uses dogs to sexually abuse prisoners are antisemitic blood libels. Unfortunately, there is a good deal of evidence. The organizations that confirmed this include B’Tselem, Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, Palestinian Centre for Human Rights, Council on American-Islamic Relations.
Here is the testimony of survivors:
1) "Nihad" (50-year-old father, Ofer Prison): In an interview with Anadolu Agency, Nihad testified that during a pre-dawn raid on January 14, 2024, Israeli soldiers ordered a police dog to sexually assault him. He described it as "the most painful moments of my life" and noted that the assault left him with deep physical wounds and long-term trauma.
2) "A.A." (35-year-old father, Sde Teiman): Arrested from Al-Shifa Hospital in March 2024, A.A. told the PCHR that soldiers took him to a corridor away from cameras, stripped him naked, and unleashed dogs that urinated on him before one dog raped him anally for approximately three minutes. He emphasized that the dog appeared "trained" and "knew exactly what it was doing".
3) "Halim Salem" (Pseudonym, West Bank Detainee): Testified to Middle East Eye that while he was forced to kneel with his head in a toilet, guards brought in a dog that "mounted and raped" him. He recalled that when he screamed, the guards beat him for "disturbing the dog".
4) "Wajdi" (43-year-old, Gaza Detainee): Recounted to the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor that during interrogation, he was tied naked to a metal bed and raped by both a soldier and a dog while other soldiers filmed and mocked him.
5) Mohammed Arab (Al Araby TV Correspondent): While detained at Sde Teiman, he told his lawyer he witnessed soldiers forcing dogs to rape prisoners. He stated, "They teach their dogs to have sex with prisoners. Can you imagine?".
6) 18-year-old Gazan Detainee (Sde Teiman): Testified to PCHR that while he and other captives were being raped with bottles by soldiers, there was "also a dog behind us, as if the dog was raping us," serving as a form of extreme psychological and physical humiliation.
7) 48-year-old Detainee (Al-Shifa/Military Outpost): Reported witnessing a dog maul another man’s genitals until the victim bled to death in his arms.
8) The Committee to Protect Journalists and Middle East Monitor have collected dozens of testimonies from journalists who reported being subjected to "dog attacks" and sexualized torture during their detention.
I talked to two guards in Sde Teiman, on more than one occasion. One had seen this happen and said it was too awful to talk about. The other said that he had heard about it from others and believed it was true. This happened. This is happening still. The evidence is too overwhelming.

Israel operates the most well-documented torture & rape dungeon in the world:
A 42-year-old woman from north Gaza, former Sde Teiman innmate said:
"She was bound naked to a metal table and repeatedly raped by two masked soldiers over the course of two days.
She recalled that she was left shackled, naked and bleeding throughout the night before the soldiers returned the next day to continue raping her.
Throughout her ordeal, she was filmed. Soldiers later showed her the footage while she was hung by her wrists under interrogation, threatening to publish the videos if she did not "cooperate".
Amir, a 35-year-old Palestinian man also held at Sde Teiman, recounted how soldiers forced him to strip naked, before their dogs urinated on him and raped him.
He described how the dog "penetrated my anus in a trained manner while I was being beaten".
"This continued for several minutes. I felt profoundly humiliated and violated."
...a soldier in Sde Teiman inserted a fire extinguisher nozzle into a Palestinian prisoner’s anus and then discharged its contents into his body, resulting in severe internal injuries and intense pain."
