So many educators I know are now spending their entire summer "vacation" preparing lessons for both online *and* in-person scenarios because they don't know the context they'll be teaching in yet. Our teachers, at all levels, need our empathy & patience more than ever these days.
Teachers aren't just showing up and winging it for class. Not only are there the endless hours spent preparing lessons, lectures, & activities that will work in a uniquely online context, but so many teachers and professors are doing so while also having kids at home themselves.
I think some people really take for granted for much work it is for educators to set up meaningful, engaging lessons for their students over zoom. There's a bizarre narrative that online teaching is easier for educators, but I don't know a single teacher who thinks that's true.
