The Taliban has now approved the return of SLAVERY in Afghanistan. We must DEFUND the Taliban. Not only is it counter to U.S. interests and an affront to all military members who served there, but the Taliban continue to slide farther backwards.
Today, on #EducationDay with the Taliban excluding millions of #Afghan girls&women from education, I’m reminded of the impact this has not just on their lives but on the future of the country. All children&youth must be able to access quality schooling & higher education, always.
🚨 URGENT: Save 22-year-old Khadija Ahmadzada
from Taliban persecution!
Khadija, a brave taekwondo coach from Herat, was arrested around January 10 for secretly teaching girls sports—defying the Taliban's total ban on women's and girls' athletics. She's now detained in Herat prison, reportedly beaten, with her trial imminent (possibly this week). Activists and sources close to her fear an extreme punishment, including death by stoning, under the regime's harsh "morality" laws. The Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue confirmed her arrest and referral to court for violating Sharia rules. UN experts and rights groups are calling for her immediate release. This is part of systematic gender apartheid: no education, no sports, no freedom for Afghan women and girls. Her best chance of survival is global pressure and visibility.

Dear MP @GarnettGenuis, we are deeply grateful to you for amplifying the voices of the Hazara people and for reminding the Canadian Parliament of the ongoing atrocities, mass displacement, persecution, and genocide they continue to face in Afghanistan.
Earlier this fall I presented a petition in Parliament in support of the Hazara community. My hope is that the people of Afghanistan will once again be able to liberate their country, and that all communities will be able to live together in peace and freedom.
Today, the Hazara community of the DMV area held a solidarity gathering in response to the recent attack on National Guard members in Washington, D.C.
Members of the Hazara community—part of the broader Afghanistan immigrant population in the United States—came together at the site of the attack to express their sympathy and support for the families of the National Guard members who were targeted.
During the gathering, community representatives strongly condemned all forms of violence, emphasizing that Hazaras themselves have long been victims of violence and persecution. They reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful coexistence and stressed that violence has no place in any society.
Organizers also noted the professionalism and cooperation of law enforcement, expressing appreciation for the police officers who closely supported the event. @USNationalGuard@DeptofWar@DHSgov @Sec_Noem
Miss you so much!

Congratulations to Afghans!
Afghanistan’s U17 Futsal team are Asian Champions! Many of these young heroes were born in Iran as refugees—without citizenship, basic rights, or support—yet rose above every barrier to make a nation proud.Hope &determination defy all odds.
MP @AliEhsassi’s remarks at Hazara Genocide Commemoration Day (Sept 25, Univ. of Ottawa, organized by the Alliance of Genocide Victim Communities). Grateful to cross-party parliament SCFAID members for recognizing the Hazara genocide & endorsing a National Day of Remembrance.
Today, we remember the victims of the Hazara genocide.
The Hazara people have endured systematic violence, targeted attacks, and decades of persecution for their faith and identity. On this memorial day, we honour the lives lost and stand in solidarity with Hazara communities across Canada and the world.
Members of the Alliance of Genocide Victim Communities—including Rohingya, Tamil, Tibetan, Tigrayan, Tutsi, Uyghur & Yazidi—will reflect on global struggles. We will also mark September 25 – National Day of Remembrance for the Hazara Genocide.

The reality is far worse than it seems. In west Kabul, a mother and daughter, after arrest and detention by the Taliban, took their own lives after release. Hundreds of women remain in Taliban custody under dire conditions. The UN must act now. #Afghanistan@SR_Afghanistan
