@PopCrave The FIRST entrants of the RRHOF were not all "Rock n Roll" for those who only embrace the "Rock" part: Chuck Berry, James Brown, Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, Fats Domino, The Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley
@DomClare@SarahSpain But what was $100m in today's money. On the other hand, I would imagine the NBA athletes at the time were not paid what they were worth due IN PART to the financial struggles of the league.
@righttimebomani@bomani_jones I think "superstar" is the wrong debate; the debate should be whether he is elite or not. Being a "superstar" is largely a media driven perception game.

@righttimebomani@perplexity_ai Was Johnny Manziel "humbled" in the same way, or was his bravado and swagger a bit different? I may not be looking at the history of sports in its entirety, but it seems to me that Black athletes need to enter the league humbly. I don't see this requirement on other athletes.
