Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a condition that affects central vision due to damage of the macular. AMD usually first affects people in their 50s and 60s. It does not cause total blindness, however it can make activities like reading and recognising faces difficult.
Glaucoma can be detected during a routine eye test done by an optometrist even before it causes any noticeable symptoms. It should be done at least every 2years. However, If you have a family history of glaucoma, an eye test is recommended annually.
