The village chief stated that BSNL technicians from Malkot had parked their Bolero on the opposite side of the river, and a village cab had ferried them to Chatric.
The following day, when the technicians returned, they found that the bridge had been blown up. That was when they learned about the incident.
They had heard a blast on 21 June. They were accustomed to hearing blasts from the Myanmar side and initially assumed it was one of those.

"...Meitei critical care specialists at JNIMS and Kuki doctors and nurses ... have continued to work together, quietly and consistently, to save lives."
A lesson from a peripheral ICU in a conflict-ridden district.
On 15 Dec, an 11-month-old girl was admitted at 8:30 pm to the 10BedICU Spoke ICU at Churachandpur District Hospital, Manipur, in status epilepticus. Standard escalation was initiated—benzodiazepines, repeat dosing, followed by levetiracetam. The seizures did not settle. During treatment, the child aspirated, leading to acute desaturation and bradycardia.
With real-time guidance from a Meitei Hub ICU specialist and on-site pediatric support, the team took a timely call to intubate (~8:45 pm) for airway protection. The child stabilised, was extubated on 17 Dec, and shifted out of ICU on 18 Dec, stable and breathing on her own.
This is not an isolated case. Over the last two years, the Churachandpur Spoke ICU has managed more than 1,550 acutely critical patients—many arriving with extreme physiological derangements that, as a Hub doctor notes, are often described in textbooks as “non-salvageable.”
One recent case had an ABG pH of 6.7. At this peripheral ICU, the nursing team—led by Sister Lian—responded calmly and decisively, in constant coordination with the Hub specialist. The pH improved, and the patient recovered.
Over the last couple of years, health workers belonging to the two warring communities—Meitei critical care specialists at JNIMS and Kuki doctors and nurses at the Spoke—have continued to work together, quietly and consistently, to save lives.
At the 10BedICU Spoke ICU at Churachandpur District Hospital, Manipur, this coordination has endured despite disruptions driven by conflict and vested interests—disruptions that do not reflect the intent of most ordinary people. What keeps this going is not infrastructure alone, but trust, clinical skill, and sustained coordination across communities, focused only on saving lives.
I hope this story reminds our youth that the future is built not by those who deepen divisions, but by those who show up, work together, and save lives. #peaceforManipur
We strive to uphold the values of unity and brotherhood, embracing our ethnic diversity. However, certain elements seek to disrupt this harmony and fragment our community. We must stand together against such divisive force.
The BJP has committed to preserving Manipur's integrity and unity. To those seeking to fragment the state, we say: the people of Manipur stand strong and united. We will not let divisive forces succeed.

VIDEO | Delhi: Congress MP A. Bimol Akoijam (@Bimol_Akoijam) said,“There was a coordinated attack on recently resettled internally displaced persons, which is deeply disturbing. It indicates that the disarming of armed elements has not been properly carried out, and the government must take appropriate action. I raised this issue in Parliament and will continue to do so.”
