This roof was thatched around 33 years ago( not by us) and by inserting about 60-70 reed& pulling the thatch back its life can be extended😀

The horizontal hazel rods,hand riven,are called liggers.
Ligger is also the name for a plank bridge across a marsh,and a set line for catching pike.
Anyone know of any other regional uses of this word?

Morning #elevenseshour #NewForest refurb job had wet start & soggy #thatchers last week but now the roof looks refreshed once more. Existing ridge removed, #thatched elevation debris removed, natural ventilation restored. Patterned block ridge is next up for our #thatching magic.
